Mr. Kirschenbaum, ELA
ELA – This week, students will read and analyze two stories to compare and contrast them. We will also focus our attention on when words should be capitalized.
Mx. Gomez, Math
SMAC Update:
We have sent our SMAC & Zearn email to eligible student's parents or guardians. If your student was not eligible at the Mid of Year iReady Assessment, there is another opportunity at the End of Year iReady Assessment. Students will take this assessment in early June. Please let me know if you want a copy of your student's iReady report.
ALL homework MUST be completed on Scratch Paper every single week.
Math 6: We will have our 6th grade Benchmark on Tuesday this upcoming week. Next week we will continue working with variables. Please ensure your scholar has a math notebook and pencils for math class.
Math 7: We will be rounding out this Unit of Rational Numbers, do our formative and complete our RCT assessment next week. We will be having our review for the RCT on Wednesday during class.
Ms. Wesselhoft, Geography
Students have the weekend task to finish and practice their UN Opening Speeches. No one else should help them write it. Guidance for the speeches is on CANVAS – Announcements.
Next week, on Monday, they will do their UN Opening Speeches. They will then participate in the UN simulation on Tuesday and Wednesday. We will then wrap up the unit of Access to Education with a two-day video – On the Way to School.
Ms. Sagan, Science
Hi scientists!
This week things got heavy as we explored gravity through a OneNote reading, some graphing exercises, and our Jump Lab, which many students completed in class. If your scientist did not complete the jump lab in class, the accompanying video, "Everything Revolves Around You" is posted to Canvas under Modules -> Unit 3.
Next week we will be combining our knowledge of stars and gravity through a Gizmo and a student-driven discovery lesson to prepare for our Earth’s Place in the Universe summative, which will take place on Monday February 10th.

As we approach the 3rd quarter, the science classroom is looking forward to more fun labs and activities! Before we can have fun learning science, we need some supplies as the room is almost out. If they are able, science students are asked to bring 2 of the following:

Library Corner
Happy New Year! Let's make 2025 a great year for reading and inquiry! Check out these great resources that the library is offering in January. Check out this month's Library Newsletter below:

Library overdue emails were sent out in December and I have heard from several families about books overdue that are owed to different schools. Please disregard titles owed to other sites. At the end of the year, I will send another notice email. Notices will only include Deal items moving forward. Sorry about any confusion!
