Procedure Reminder: Attendance Rules
Remember that in order to participate in co-curricular activities, including athletics and club, students must be in attendance for a full day of school. If students come to school after the start of the second class each day, or leave before the end of the day, they will not be eligible to participate.
If students leave school and return, they must have a medical note in order to be eligible.

College & Career Opportunities
🚌 Juniors and Seniors: FREE College and Career Fair Field Trip- DEADLINE EXTENDED! Explore Colleges, Trade Opportunities and More
Explore the Southern Connecticut College and Career Fair with the NFHS College and Career Center and School Counseling Team on Tuesday, October 1, 2024!
This FREE event will give you the chance to meet representatives from over 185 colleges, universities, businesses, military branches, and gap year programs. Seating is limited due to bus transportation capacity, so submit your information to the College and Career Center to secure your spot!
Bus Departure from NFHS: 4:00 p.m.
Return to NFHS: Approximately 8:30 p.m.
Permission slips are due to the College and Career Center by Wednesday, September 25

🚩 Juniors and Seniors: College Representative Visits Begin 9/23
This year, over 70 college representatives are visiting NFHS. This is a great opportunity to learn about programs, admissions requirements, and connect with representatives who will read our students' applications and assist with admission decisions.
Students can check the schedule and sign up for visits by logging on to Naviance.
📄 Seniors: Common Application Support – Fridays During Lunch Waves
Does your student need help with the Common Application? Whether they are just starting the Common Application or working on specific sections they can join Mrs. Laughlin in the College and Career Center during lunch for assistance.
📆 Senior Families: Individual Post-High School Planning Meetings
Senior Families, this is a reminder that in addition to the post-high school planning support presented during rotating F-Day Rebel Blocks, students should schedule a one-on-one meeting with their school counselor. This individual meeting will further support them in their post-high school planning process.

Food For All: Community Meal Packing Event
NFHS Food For All Initiative is a club that aims to fight food insecurity locally, nationally and internationally by participating in various food packaging events. We are having our first packaging event on Saturday, September 21st from 11:00-1:00.
If you are available, please consider donating 2 hours of your time to volunteer at the event (details on the poster below). If you or someone you know is interested, please visit the link below to register. We encourage you to bring family and friends, we're looking to have as many volunteers as we can possibly get! Every single volunteer is meaningful and helps us achieve our goal of packaging 25,000 meals. Students who attend will be given community service hours to fulfill part of their graduation requirement.
NFHS students can count participation toward their community service graduation requirement!

You’re invited to the Western CT Coalition Youth Mental Health Art Exhibit and Celebration on Wednesday, September 25th, at 6:00 PM!
This public event will showcase beautiful artwork created by young artists, and we would love for you to join us in celebrating their talent and creativity.

If your NFHS student missed school pictures, the Make-up date is October 7th.
Students should go to the theater during their study hall period to have their picture taken.

Club Fair: October 1 & 2
On October 1st during lunch and October 2nd during REBEL Block, we will be having a club fair for NFHS students, sponsored by DECA. Students will be able to meet club officers from our many co-curricular offerings and learn about new ways to get involved at NFHS!
No School for Students: October 3 & 4
On October 3rd schools are closed in observance of Rosh Hashannah.
Friday, October 4th is a Professional Learning Day for teachers.
PSAT for 10th & 11th Grades: October 24
Our 10th and 11th grade students will sit for the PSATs on October 24th. There will be a special schedule for all students. More info to come!
Conferences: October 24 & 25
You will be able to schedule appointments on Zoom to speak with your child's teachers on October 24 and/or 25th. Afternoon/evening conferences will be on Thursday 10/24, and morning conferences will be on Friday 10/25. More information to come!
