Holy Rosary School Derby
NEWSLETTER / TERM 2/ WEEK 4/ Wednesday 8th May 2024
Message From Miss Melanie
We are looking forward to celebrating with our Mothers, Aunts, Grandmothers and Important Carers at our morning tea on Friday in the Multi-purpose Room. RSVPs are encouraged for catering purposes. Students will only be able to attend the morning tea with their special female carer but they will not miss out on a yummy scone on the day if their special person is not able to make it.
We celebrated our Sacramental Commitment Mass on Sunday 28th April and then the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Monday 29th April. Father Patricio, from Broome, came across to officiate both Masses. Thank you to Miss Margaret who prepared the students for both Masses, especially our Reconciliation candidates. The Sacrament of Eucharist will be celebrated in June, once we have finalised the details with the priest and Miss Margaret will be in contact with the families involved.
We will close at 12.00pm on WEDNESDAY 12th JUNE for Parent/Teacher Meetings in the lead up to the mid-year reports. More information will be sent out closer to the date, letting families know how they can book their appointment with their child's teacher.
Please keep Father Paul in your prayers. He is currently recuperating in Perth and will not return to Derby. Father Brian will be our priest until June and this will be followed by Father Stephen who will be with us until the end of the year.
God Bless.
Miss Melanie
Rejoicing Religion
Thank you to all the families who attended out Commitment Mass and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Those students participated with the readings and prayers we thank you for a job well done. We have included some pictures from our afternoon celebrating the sacrament of Reconciliation.
Wellbeing Funding
We have been lucky enough to receive some funding to support the wellbeing of our students. We have used funds to purchase equipment for our Yr 6 student camps, so that all students will have the appropriate equipment and can participate.
We will also be using the funds to up-skill staff in how to better support our students in this space so that all staff use consistent language when working with students, especially when the students are trying to navigate the complexities of friendships. We hope that the opportunities the funding gives us will allow us to continue developing a safe and nurturing environment for all students.
The funding has also allowed us to purchase a new school shirt for all students currently enrolled at Holy Rosary. We want all students to feel they belong to our great school and what better way than through wearing one of our great looking school shirts. These will arrive in the next few weeks and will be handed out to each student through their classroom teacher.
Special Items from Home
It is really important that special items of value or personal value, not be brought to school by students such as toys, hats and non-uniform clothing. Staff are not able to guarantee that they will not be broken or mislaid. All items that students require for learning and play are provided by the school, this also includes any items that sooth anxiety or help concentration.
Items that are requested for the sharing of news, will be secured in the classroom for the day by the classroom teacher.
School Uniform
AS A REMINDER: As the weather cools we ask that families ensure that their child/children have an appropriate jumper to wear to school. It is not ok for students to wear hoodies or hugely oversized jumpers, as it becomes a safety issue in class and during play times. School jumpers can be purchased from the uniform shop.
Please ensure that appropriate runners or sandals (with a back strap) are worn to school as thongs and crocs are not appropriate for school.
Health Care Card Discount
It is essential for Health Care Card holders to complete the necessary form immediately to be eligible for the school fee discount. Please come into the Admin to provide details.
All Health care Cards MUST be current so if yours has expired please come in and provide the updated details to Miss Jenna in Admin.
