Prayer
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Families,
I hope everyone is we, and that you had a nice Mother’s Day last Sunday. I am sure it was different, but the important thing is that you were together as a family.
I am certainly aware of your concerns during this time of uncertainly, especially now that we are seeing cases of children becoming ill. Our prayers are with the scientists and doctors so that a cure can come about, but in the meantime we all need to take precautions and look after each other.
Life still continues, but we are all adjusting to the new measures in place. It appears these social distancing measures will be in place for quite some time, and as such we all need to make adjustments. As an educator, I wonder what will our school system in the future. The Archdiocese has set up a task force to develop a plan for reentry into face-to-face classes in the future. I have been asked to be part of this task force to assist with the plan. I am sure we will be looking at a number of scenarios that could work for the future. When I'm able to do so I will inform our community what we plan to do for the new school year.
I wish to let you know that your support in sending your child to All Souls is a very important decision in your lives, and as a alumni of many Catholic schools and universities, I can assure you that you have made the right decision to be a member of a Catholic school community. Our teachers go beyond the call of their job description to help all students succeed in their learning. We are blessed to have such a wonderful team of teachers and staff at All Souls.
Thank you
I wish to thank all those who took the time to write comments on the “padlet” app expressing your appreciation for your teachers. They certainly were surprised to see how much you appreciate them.
School Events
We have decided to postpone the reception of Reconciliation and First Holy Eucharist until the new school year. We will be able to go ahead with 8th grade graduation under the guidelines of the San Mateo County Health Office in the beginning of June.
Returning of School Items
During the last week of school, we will be planning a drop off of your child’s books and computer (along with cord). We will be setting up specific days and times for you to drop these items at the school via a drive through in the upper yard. More information about dates and times will be forthcoming.
Congratulations
Congratulations to all our basketball players who received awards at the recent Zoom Basketball Awards Ceremony. It certainly was a different ceremony, but it was a great opportunity to recognize the achievements of our students.
Final Trimester Awards
Our next Principal's Awards Ceremony will be on the last day of school, and this will be via Zoom webinar where we now have access to 500 participants.
Virtual DC Trip
This would have been the weekend that our 8th graders would have left for their Washington DC trip, but this will not be happening. Instead we will plan two morning sessions of a virtual tour of DC next week.
New Modified Grading Policy
Regarding assessment and grading, please ensure that your child keeps up with the assignments that teachers are giving. I posted the Covid-19 Trimester Modified Grading Policy on SchoolSpeak during the week.
Re-Enrollment 2020-2021
Regarding re-enrollment, I would ask that you complete the re-enrollment process so that we would have an accurate count of students who will be starting in the new school year. Re-enrollment fees can be delayed at this time. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me principal@aafallsoulsschool.org or Mrs. Cierra at info@ssfallsoulsschool.org
I wish you all the best over the next couple of weeks as we wind down the school year.
God Bless,
Vincent Riener
Principal

BOX TOPS
Box Tops for Education was started by General Mills in California back in 1996, after the company decided they wanted to create a program to help support education and benefit America’s schools. All Souls has benefitted from this program over the years, receiving sports equipment, microscopes, and a variety of other educational items.
You can help by clipping the Box Tops off approved products you already have in your pantry. You don't need to clip the actual product UPC — just the Box Tops logo will do. From frozen foods to produce and household cleaning products, there are literally hundreds of opportunities to help, and each Box Top is worth 10 cents. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it adds up fast.
There are so many participating companies! Participating companies and product lines include General Mills, Green Giant, Totino's, Pillsbury, Old El Paso, Ziploc, Hefty, Juicy Juice, Betty Crocker and many more. For a full list of eligible items check the Box Tops for Education website at https://www.boxtops4education.com/earn .
Please see the flyer below for more details about new additions to the Box Tops program.
