We GLOW at Trails!! 🌟
Dear Trails Families,
September is already shaping up to be a busy and exciting month, full of learning opportunities and community-building events. Here's a glimpse of what's happening this month and a quick overview of what is occurring in each grade level.
Upcoming Events
PTSO Fundraiser: Beginning September 9th, we will have our BIG fundraiser of the year! The BEST part is that 100% of the amount raised goes directly to the school!! Also, you don’t have to sell or deliver anything!! More information will be coming.
Bronco Stomp: School-wide Bronco Stomp for September will be held on Sept. 27th. A student from each classroom will be recognized for the Bronco Leadership Code of Effort.
No School: Students will be out of school September 19th and 20th. During this time, teachers will participate in professional development and collaborate with teams.
Parent-Teacher Conferences: Scheduled for Oct 3rd & 7th. This will be a great opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and set goals for the year ahead.
Grade-Level Highlights
Kindergarten: Kinder has started the year off with a bang! We are having a great time learning all the letters in the alphabet for our ABC Boot Camp. Our new math curriculum is a ton of fun! We’ve been practicing writing numbers 0-5 and counting sets of objects to 5. We’ve also been learning how to work together and be kind and caring classmates. Kindergarten rocks!!
1st Grade: We have been learning many new things since school started! We have practiced school rules and procedures, as well as getting to know our new classroom friends and how to show respect. Now that we know how to be successful first graders, we are diving into our learning including reading words with short vowels and adding numbers within 10. We are so ready for a fun year together!
2nd Grade: 2nd Grade is off to a great start! We are beginning the year assessing each student's abilities and working on a plan to help them be successful. In ELA we are introducing the Heggerty and UFLI programs to help fill the gaps in phonics/phonological awareness. Students love these interactive programs. In Math, we just completed Unit 1 of our new curriculum "Big Ideas". We focused on arrays and repeated addition. Each unit comes with a career video to draw students' interest, as well as games and manipulatives to motivate those hands-on learners.
3rd Grade: Third grade has kicked off the school year with multiplication!! We are working on several different strategies to help us grasp this exciting concept. We will be starting flashcards and multiplication quizzes soon, so be sure to look out for a Seesaw message from your child's teacher.
4th Grade: Fourth grade is utilizing all of our skills learned with multiplication and division, and extending it! We are working hard at learning new skills with text features, map skills, and complete sentences.
Library News: All grades are checking out books! 2nd -4th are learning how to use our online library search program. PreK and Kindergarten are learning parts of a book. First graders are learning the difference between Fiction and Nonfiction.
P.E. News: This month PreK-1st are reviewing how to catch, roll, and throw a ball. Remember to step with your opposite foot when rolling and throwing! We will also be working together to share equipment and space with others. 2nd-4th grade is reviewing GaGa Ball rules so we can play safely during recess. We will also be playing fun relay games where we work cooperatively with our peers. At the end of the month, 4th grade will begin our Archery Unit.
Music News: We are exploring sounds in music and in the world around us. In PK-2 we are exploring sounds on the farm and how to safely move our bodies, staying in our own space when the music is fast and slow or loud and soft. We are also practicing interacting kindly with others during dances! In 3-4, we are identifying rhythms we hear and learning how to write what that music looks like. We are also identifying when the music is high and low and how to write that on the staff!
Art News: We have focused on the Elements of Art, learning about embracing mistakes, and discussing important artists!
Strengthening Our Partnership
We believe that a strong partnership between parents and the school is key to student success. We encourage you to stay connected by attending school events, volunteering, and regularly communicating with your child’s teacher. Your involvement is invaluable and greatly appreciated. Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. We look forward to an amazing year of learning, growth, and fun! Remember, at Trails we GLOW – Grow - Lead - Own - Win!!

🚌Transportation Information
Transportation - MPS Buses Are Safest Way To School
Mustang Public School’s buses are the safest way to get to and from school each day. Statistics from the School Bus Information Council show that buses are safer for students than airlines, passenger trains and passenger cars, which have the highest injury rate.
Mustang’s bus drivers go through strict training, which includes written tests as well as driving instruction and a driving test. New bus drivers will have a minimum of 15 hours on-the-road training with Mustang transportation department staff before they begin transporting children. Training is provided in-house.
Besides the benefits of safety, when more students ride the bus it significantly reduces congestion around the schools. It is also means a gas savings for parents.

đźš— Car Drop-Off and Pick-Up đźš—
THANK YOU for keeping your car rider tag visible!!!
Procedures for Car Riders
*When dropping off or picking up students, all vehicles MUST use the car rider lane located off of Czech Hall road. The front drive of the school is for school buses, daycare vans, and handicapped students. If you do not have a PINK handicapped tag you will be stopped when trying to enter the front drive during arrival (7:15-7:45) and dismissal (2:15-2:45).
*All vehicles MUST go through the drop off/pick up line. Vehicles SHOULD NOT park unless you are going into the school with your child. If you need to park, please park on the east side of the school in a parking place.
*Morning Drop off begins at 7:15 AM. No supervision is provided before then.
* The entry from Czech Hall will remain one lane. Two rows of traffic will be formed after entering the car rider drive. Duty teachers will direct parents as to when students should exit their cars. Please be aware of what is going on around you as multiple cars will unload at the same time. Watch for a staff person to direct traffic to move forward with a Stop/Go sign. The left lane of traffic will turn left out of Trails, Right lane will turn right. There will be no crossover of traffic.
*While in the car rider lane, parents should remain in vehicles. There will be staff members on duty if a child needs help entering/exiting a vehicle. ALL STUDENTS MUST EXIT ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR FOR SAFETY.
*At 7:40 am, the K- 4th grade car rider lane will be closed and used for Pre-K drop off only (from 7:50-8:00). At that time, parents must park and walk your child in the main doors and check them in through the office as your student is considered tardy. (We will not count tardies for the first week of school to give everyone time to get used to the procedures and to allow our car line to move more quickly.)
*During afternoon dismissal, if you do not have your car rider tag, you will be asked to come into the office and show ID before a child is released. This is for the safety of our students. Our Office closes at 3:00. All children should be picked up by 2:50pm.
*At no point should children be dropped off and left unescorted by an adult when coming to school. (late check ins, doctors appts, etc)
Please have coats on, backpacks ready, lunch boxes in hand and kisses and hugs completed before time to exit the car. This will help make our car line more efficient.
Thank you for helping to keep our students safe.
