Elementary Inclusion Week
"Spread the Word Inclusion" - #BEKIND
Elementary Inclusion Week - March 11th through March 15th
We know that the importance of being included is more than just a one-week event and hope that this opportunity draws attention to the actions each of us takes to make sure all students are included and welcome at school!
MARVELous Monday
What makes you SUPER? We are more alike than we are different and we also each have unique strengths. Take time to talk to a friend about their hidden super power and alter ego. Make a new friend of the mild-mannered unassuming peer on the playground.
Teamwork Tuesday
Try something new at recess. Play a new game. Invite a new friend to join your activity. Everyone deserves to be included. We are stronger as a team than alone.
Use this fun Bingo Activity as one way to get know more about others.
Wednesday - Rock Star Day
What "Rocks" about your classmates." Make a chain link with your class and school to share your Rock Star ability.
Throwback Thursday
Whether you love the fashion of the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, or 90's, pick a generation to show your style. Look back and celebrate where we each come from. Grow new friendships as we learn about our favorite styles!
Futuristic Friday
It takes all kinds of people to make our school and world a great place. Show your future dream job and dress like what you dream to be when you grow up.
Developed in Partnership with Special Olympics Nebraska
As Unified Champion Schools, we partner with Special Olympics Nebraska to implement a three-component strategy focused on Inclusive Sports, Inclusive Youth Leadership, and Whole-School Engagement. These three components bring students with and without intellectual disabilities together to promote a positive school climate, develop physical fitness, prevent bullying, enhance student engagement, and promote student leadership skills.
