FVE NEWS
May 2024
DEAR FVE FAMILIES,
It’s hard to believe that we have entered the last month of school, the time has flown by this year! Although we are wrapping up this school year, we are also busy making preparations for next year. It is exciting to share that at this moment in time we will have 100% of our classroom teachers and support staff returning for the 24/25 school year. A few of our teachers will be changing grade levels/positions, and we have added sections in certain grade levels with the goal of reducing class sizes. Here are the updates for the 24/25 school year at this time:
Kayla Smith (1st Grade)-We are happy to share that Kayla will be moving from music and will be teaching 1st Grade!
Rheanna Tate (Music)-Please welcome Rheanna to the FVE family! She is an experienced music teacher. She previously taught elementary music in another DCSD school, and in a neighboring school district.
Destiny Thrasher (PE)-We are excited to share that Destiny will be moving from 1st Grade to PE. Destiny has been part of our FVE family for many years, and she is excited for this new journey!
Michele Coyle (1st Grade)-We have added an additional class in grade 1, and Michele is super excited to loop with some of her kindergarten students next year!
Lisa Olsen (2nd Grade)-Lisa will be moving from 5th grade to 2nd grade next year. We have added an additional class in grade 2, and we are thrilled to share that Lisa will be joining our 2nd grade team!
Carla Carlisle (Kindergarten)-Please welcome Carla to the FVE family! Carla is coming to us with many years of kindergarten experience in a neighboring school district.
Enjoy the last few weeks of school! As always, we want to thank you for choosing FVE as your child(ren)’s school!
Cheerfully,
Kiersten

KINDERGARTEN GRADUATION
5th GRADE CONTINUATION
5th Grade will have our continuation ceremony on the last day of school - Thursday, May 23rd from 9:00am-10:00am, in the gym. Following the ceremony we will hold a 'Clap Out' for students, inside the building from 10:00am-10:15am. After the ceremony, we ask parents to exit the gym in order to line the sidewalk of the main entrance in order to "clap out" the students as they leave the building on their last day. As a rite of passage, 5th graders are officially done with elementary school after the clap out following continuation and are allowed to leave and celebrate the end of their elementary career with families.

Counselor's Corner
Our Buffaloes have learned so much this year. As I reflect back on all our lessons, we have covered so much! In May, the counselor lessons will incorporate centers that review what we have learned this year. My 5th grade lessons will focus on the transition to middle school. We will also be doing some reflecting on the year and our growth. We wrapped up our lessons about career exploration and I hope your students have some big dreams for their future. Our first career day included presenters from a variety of fields, including engineering, mining, politics, environmental science, food nutrition, nursing, law enforcement and safety, biomedical science, veterinary science, and teaching/education. Thank you to all of our parent and community volunteers who participated in our Career Day!
Legend High School Summer Camps
Hello Legend Feeder Families!
Please see the brochures below for all sports camps offered this summer.
Thank you to all our volunteers that have helped make this school year one of the best! We appreciate all you do.
FVEA UPDATES
All of us at FVEA would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to everyone who made our first Buffalo Bingo Bash and Silent Auction a success! The gym was packed with bingo players and we were so lucky to get a beautiful day. We had a wonderful turnout and appreciate everyone who donated to and purchased a basket at the silent auction. Once again, we’d like to thank our sponsors, Front Range Fence Company and Stitch-ANN-Sew for their generous support!
Just a reminder to please drop off Longmont Dairy milk caps at school before the end of the year.
Teacher Appreciation week is May 6-10! We are asking for a few donations. Please sign up to support our awesome staff:
Our FVEA meetings are done for the year, but we’d like to welcome Valerie Thompson as president for the 2024/2025 year! No doubt she will bring great ideas to the table. We still are looking for a vice president as well as a spring fundraising chair. Please email Leah Woodbury if you’re interested or have questions, either about the open board positions or getting involved in any way: leahwoodbury@gmail.com.
Thank you for your support and have a great summer!
