MESSAGE FROM SUPERINTENDENT DR. MAYS
At Alief ISD, the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community are our top priority. We are committed to providing a safe and securing learning environment.
We urge our parents and students to not share the alleged messages online, as this causes further disruption to our schools and increases the fear in our community. Instead, we encourage anyone with knowledge about threats, whether credible or not, to immediately inform campus administration or another trusted adult on campus or to contact them and practice “See Something, Say Something” to report any suspicious activity witnessed either on social media or in the community. Contact the Alief Police Department 281-498-3542/ police@aliefisd.net, Houston Police Department Westside at 832-394-5600, Crime Stoppers at 713-521-4600, or 911.
Additionally, remind your children to be mindful of their social media posts and not to spread any information that may cause harm.
Your cooperation is essential in helping us maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in keeping our school safe. We are committed to ensuring that Alief ISD remains a safe place for learning and growth.
Thank you for your continuous support of Alief ISD.

Dismissal
Mahanay Walker Dismissal Protocol
Solo Walkers
Students in grades 1st-4th will need a signed permission slip to walk home without a parent. Solo walkers will be escorted by staff members to the crosswalk on High Star. Parents are not allowed to remove students from the line. You may wait across the street for your student.
Walkers to Be Met
All Pre-K, Kindergarten, and students in grades 1-4 without a signed permission slip must be picked up by parents who are displaying a red walker placard.
Parents should form a line behind the cones in the designated walker area, ensuring their red walker placards are displayed. A staff member will call for students to be released to the parent holding the placard.
Parents without placards must go to the front office with a valid ID to have their child released.
Early Pick Up
Early Pickups MUST be made prior to 2:30 p.m. Students will not be released until 3:20 p.m., dismissal time. Students picked up prior to dismissal are considered as being absent for part of the school day, similar to a morning tardy, unless the school receives a doctor’s note within three school days.
Bus Riders
All students will be assigned 2 SMART tags at the start of each year.
• One tag must remain attached to the student’s backpack. Bus riders use these tags to scan on and off the bus using an iPad. Using specialized software, the district can then track which students are on the busses and ensure that drivers know each child’s appropriate bus stop. Parents may sign up to receive text messages regarding bus stop arrival times. SMART tags on backpacks are also used by all students as a breakfast meal tag. More information on bus stops, SMART tags, and kindergarten bus procedures is available on the district website at www.aliefisd.net/o/aisd/page/transportation.
• The second SMART tag will be used in school as your child’s picture ID. Students are expected to wear these tags daily. They are used for book checkout in the library and for scanning in during lunch. Badges increase safety and allow all adults, including substitutes, to be able to call children by their names.
If either of your child’s SMART tags is lost or damaged, a $5.00 replacement fee is required.
Car Riders
Please make sure students' names are displayed in the front dashboard of your car.
