GLOW GAZETTE
JANUARY 20, 2025
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
GLOW Students & Families,
I hope you have had a nice long weekend! I took advantage of the holiday to delay distribution of this week's newsletter, as I had hoped the additional 24 hours might provide some clarity about how the weather might impact our schedule this week. Instead, it looks like we are going to need to take this week one day at a time, so right now we are focused on Tuesday, when we look forward to welcoming students for a full school day.
It is important that students are present on Tuesday, as our teachers will be sharing information about Remote Learning assignments, should we need to utilizing Remote Learning Days this week. While Remote Learning Days do not have nearly the same impact as in-person instruction for our students, these days do give us the opportunity to have students continue to practice concepts learned in class, while avoiding altering our school calendar to include make-up days in the future.
Please see additional information about Remote Learning Days, including how attendance and grading is handled in a Remote Learning setting, in the newsletter below.
We will keep you informed about potential changes to our regular schedule once we know more.
Wishing you all a great week ahead!
Kate B. Tayloe
Principal
💫 HAPPENING THIS WEEK 💫
REMOTE LEARNING ATTENDANCE & GRADING
Please note the requirements listed below for students to be counted present on a Remote Learning Day:
- Middle School - students will complete paper/pencil Remote Learning activities at home and turn those in to their teacher when we return to school. Completed assignments will result in the student being marked "present" for the Remote Learning Day.
- High School - On the morning of the Remote Learning Day teachers will email students to remind them of the Remote Learning assignments for that day and to request that students reply to that email for the purpose of recording attendance. Students who engage in this two-way communication will be marked present for the Remote Learning Day.
Please note that both the Middle School and High School Remote Learning Assignments will be taken for a grade.
