MIDDLE SCHOOL SOUTH
March 5, 2024
This Week at GMSS
From the Desk of Ms. Murdock
Hello GMSS families,
As the weather warms up, our students are full of energy! While we love their personalities and humor, we are seeing some increase in behaviors. By the 4th quarter, we know that our students understand ROAR and expectations of a middle school student, as well as right from wrong.
We will be meeting next week for our community meetings to reset and set goals. I will share the information from the discussions.
Students!!! We need to continue working on preparation for the days. Often we are not seeing charged chrome books and many students do not bring pencils or paper. Please help your children work on increasing this responsibility. This is incredibly important as we are moving toward state testing. We do not have loaner chrome books or chargers.
Lost and Found continues to pile up! We will continue to donate items at the end of this week, so please swing by and collect your items.
Reminder that there is no school this Friday, March 9th or Monday, March 11th.
Have a fabulous week!
Robin Murdock

District News
Check out our latest safety video featuring GJPS Superintendent Dr. Deagle and Gahanna Division of Police Chief Spence talking about firearm storage safety and highlighting the risks of look-alike weapons.
BUSES
As a reminder, please know the time of your student's bus stop. We are happy to offer Here Comes the Bus as an aide for parents tracking their student's bus, but there may be some times when the app is not exact. We certainly do not want students to miss the bus, so please be sure your student is at their stop at the scheduled time. To remind yourself of your pickup time, visit our Transfinder page.
HEART & PRIDE
The Heart & Pride Nomination Form will remain available year-round and is open to any member of our staff, regardless of position.

ROX
39% of girls say they are sad or depressed for most of the week. Rates of daily sadness have tripled for 5th and 6th grade girls and more than doubled for 7th and 8th grade girls.
So what can you do to help? To navigate these growing-up years, girls need caregivers to listen and encourage them along the way. Because that once bold, confident girl still resides within her, she just needs you.
Join Ruling Our eXperiences (ROX), a district partner and local nonprofit, for their fun and empowering workshops for girls (grades 4-5 and 6-8) and their moms and dads to strengthen communication and build connection.
