Congratulations to the 2024 GSSV Govy Graduates! We are proud of how hard you worked the last two years and know you will all continue to do great things.

We wrapped up our school year with our annual field day. Our students enjoyed one final pot luck and games of 9-square, corn hole, kickball, volleyball, and a water fight! Hearing the laughter and witnessing the memories being made was the highlight of this final day together.

It is with great pleasure that we introduce you to Mrs. Tracey Nash, our new English instructor on the Alberta campus. Mrs. Nash comes to us with 12 years of high school teaching experience in Mecklenburg County. She will be teaching ENG 111/112, ENG 211, ENG 245, and ENG 255. She received her undergraduate degree in English from Virginia Tech and her Master's degree in Fine Arts: Creative Writing and Publish Arts from The University of Baltimore. We are excited to have Mrs. Nash join our team and look forward to the amazing opportunities she will provide the students.

Please note that all students have summer assignments to complete. Use your time wisely over the summer and don't wait until the last minute to complete these assignments. Contact your instructors if you have any questions.

The 2024-2025 GSSV school calendar is below. Please note our days may not align with your high school calendar. You are expected to follow our calendar and be on campus on days we have classes whether your home high school does or not. Please plan vacations accordingly. Contact Mrs. Swain if you have any questions.

The Governor's School of Southside Virginia is on a four-day schedule during the months of June and July. If you need Ms. Tucker or Mrs. Swain, please reach out to them Mondays through Thursdays from 7:15 am until 4:30 pm. The instructors are not working during the summer but do check their email periodically. If you need to reach one of them, Ms. Tucker or Mrs. Swain can assist you in making that contact.
