This Week at Adams
This week, the students at Adams Elementary had a delightful and creative experience during Recess Art. They enthusiastically participated in a special project, crafting beautiful gift boxes to honor Mothers on Mother's Day. Using paper and magazine cutouts, our All-Stars put their artistic skills to work, designing and decorating these boxes with care and attention to detail. Each student poured their heart into their creation, resulting in a unique and heartfelt gift for their mothers. Recess Art not only provided a fun and engaging activity for our students but also allowed them to express their love and appreciation for their mothers. It was a heartwarming sight to see our young learners so engaged and enthusiastic about creating something special for their loved ones. We are proud of our students' creativity and thoughtfulness and are excited for them to share their beautiful gift boxes with their mothers. The joy and pride they feel in their creations are a testament to the love and care that goes into every box. Well done, All-Stars!
Adams Elementary's TK and Kindergarten students embarked on an exciting educational journey this week as they visited Centennial Farms. This immersive experience provided them with valuable insights into the world of urban farming, allowing them to witness firsthand the wonders of agriculture. During their visit, students had the unique opportunity to see and interact with a variety of farm animals, including adorable baby pigs and ducks. This hands-on experience not only sparked their curiosity but also deepened their understanding of where food comes from and the importance of agriculture in our daily lives. The students were captivated by the sights and sounds of the farm, eagerly absorbing new knowledge about farming practices and animal care. Their enthusiasm was contagious, creating an atmosphere of joy and learning. This field trip was a memorable and enriching experience for our young learners, broadening their horizons and fostering a deeper appreciation for the environment and the food we eat. We are grateful for the opportunity to provide such impactful learning experiences to our students and look forward to many more in the future.

Counseling Corner
Mental Health Awareness Month is a time to raise awareness of and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health challenges, as well as highlighting the ways to take care of our mental well-being. Youth in the United States today desperately fails to cope with the challenging demands of everyday life, often experiencing severe emotions such as anxiety and depression, encouraging even more distressing emotions of helplessness. Equipping our students with the essentials to manage distressing emotions and circumstances will help mitigate any mental health challenges on campus as well as support them in their education and life. For kids and teens, experience many changes such as learning how to be an individual, separate from their parents or friends. They’re navigating social pressures, wondering what other kids are thinking about them. No one can hear the inner dialogue of their thoughts and feelings. Thus, it can feel lonely at times, like no one understands what they’re going through.

Attendance
Did you know? Research shows that chronically absent students (students with 10% absences over the school year = 18 absences) are less likely to read on grade level by 3rd grade, are more likely to score lower on standardized tests, get suspended in middle school, and are at least four times more likely to not complete high school.
