Parents/Guardians wanted for MRHS School Council
We look to build a strong school advisory council this year to guide our important work. A school council is a representative, school building-based committee that meets quarterly and is composed of the principal, parents, teachers, community members, and students. School councils are to assist principals in:
- Adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards
- Identifying the educational needs of students attending the school
- Reviewing the annual school building budget
- Formulating a school improvement plan
- Review the student handbook
If you are interested please send an email message to principal Jennifer Police at jpolice@monomoy.edu indicating your interest in serving on the school council.
Celebrating Culture & Community: The Success of the Latinos en Cape Cod Festival
On October 5th, with the support of The Arts & Justice Collective and Amplify POC, Inc., we proudly hosted the Cape Cod Latino Festival in honor of Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month. This celebration was a vibrant reflection of the rich cultural diversity within our community. Although the official month of celebration has just ended, we remain committed to celebrating Latino culture throughout the year, through our Spanish classes, clubs, and many more activities that highlight the beauty and importance of our shared heritage.
Culture is not just a method of learning—it is a powerful bridge that unites us, strengthens our diversity, and fosters a deep sense of belonging and togetherness. The festival served as a reminder of how important it is to embrace the cultures that make up our world, enriching our school community and beyond.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to our generous sponsors, the businesses who supported this event, and the school staff for their unwavering dedication. To the families who built the stunning country booths, and to the students who created the posters representing each Latin American country, your creativity and passion made the festival a true success.
A special thank you goes out to our incredible students, Rubi Cabrera, Vicky Guzman, Idelis RodrÃguez, Ysardi y Génesis Gómez, Giorgia Storey, Maeve Kelleher, Elizabeth Rodgers, Carly Mainini, Elliana Gramm, Ethan Carey and Emely Valdovinos, who showed outstanding responsibility and leadership. Their support ensured that every part of the event flowed smoothly, making all of our visitors feel welcomed and at home. Your hard work and commitment did not go unnoticed, and we are so proud of you.
Additionally, we want to express our deep gratitude to all the organizations and community service providers who were present at the Festival. Your hard work and significant positive impact are felt across all Cape communities, and we are thankful for the meaningful contributions you continue to make.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to our school leadership for guiding us in this direction and for supporting this event with such enthusiasm. Your commitment to celebrating diversity and fostering cultural appreciation in our community is truly appreciated.
Together, we will continue to celebrate and honor the cultures that enrich our lives and make our community stronger.
¡Gracias de corazón!

Interact club help out at Cape Abilities Farm
Thank you to all the amazing Interact students who helped out at the Cape Abilities Farm on Saturday. Pictured here (left to right): Caroline Vitolo, Jericah Dujua, Yssell Rivas Batista, Mayur Patel, Ryan Casey, Michael Considine and Jason Elhilow.
Message from their Volunteer Manager:
"The students who attended were enthusiastic and hard workers. And for many, after a grueling morning with the SAT! We were able to accomplish a job that has been on the Farm’s to do list for months. It will have direct financial benefit to us in terms of using the inventory of what the students counted and categorized. Farm leadership was thrilled!
You can be very proud of your group, great young people.
Thank you again, and I will get back to you with other opportunities as they arise, including help at the holidays
Cape Abilities is very grateful to have the involvement of Monomoy Interact, the students really make a difference here."

Scholar Athletes of the Month: September
Sean Needham
Sean Needham is the Ideal person for a Scholar Athlete, he's the entire package. He has shown to coaches his ability to receive both positive and negative feedback. Knowing Sean from the athletic standpoint, I can see how he uses his skills on the field in the classroom. He is a loyal young man with a bright future in any field he wants. Sean has been a team leader and voice of the team for years and never shies away from the hard situations. He has shown his ability to be a playmaker for the football team every game he's been in. He has always been willing to push himself to be a better Student Athlete and person. This is why I chose him as our team's Scholar Athlete of the month! - Coach Rob Sliney
Lucy Bates
Lucy exemplifies what it means to be a "Scholar Athlete". As a four year varsity player and three year starter on defense she has helped the girls soccer team qualify for the state tournament each of these years. This year she has made her impact felt in her consistent and fiesty play in the back as well as with her willingness to make runs forward. She scored the game winning goal against Sturgis West. As captain this year she is a true leader on and off the field both by example and as someone willing to urge her teammates to achieve more. In the classroom, she is ranked first in the senior class with a 4.74 grade point average. She never shies away from a challenge as she is currently taking five AP courses. She is a senior class officer, president of Key Club and tutors mandarin. As a junior, Lucy won the Harvard Book Award and the Math Department's award. - Coach Jenn Peterson
