NRCS District Update
December 4, 2020
Message from Superintendent
Dear Parent/Guardian,
At the Tuesday, December 1 Board of Education meeting, I shared a summary of the results of the community and staff surveys that were launched in October regarding second semester planning. Based on the survey feedback received and the divided results, in addition to guidance from Lorain County Public Health, I have recommended that we continue our current hybrid model to start the second semester.
The reality is that under the current circumstances a return to full in-person learning five days a week is not practical because of a shortage of certified and support staff substitutes. Also, we do not have the physical space to properly distance students, regardless of whether we chose a three or six-foot standard.
Additionally, with the increasing positive case counts of COVID-19 and the number of staff and students required to quarantine, it would not be possible to staff our buildings in-person five days per week. Currently, we are only able to continue our hybrid model because teachers are able to work remotely while quarantined.
We continue to evaluate every option available to the district. This was a very difficult decision to make and I understand that it will not meet the desires of everyone. We understand that it has been a challenging year and I cannot thank you enough for the sacrifice, flexibility, and support you have shown.
Sincerely,
Roxann Ramsey-Caserio
Superintendent

Free Breakfast and Lunch
Any student who wishes to receive breakfast and/or lunch can do so at no cost. Families still have the option to send students with packed meals, but the district encourages everyone to take advantage of this opportunity.
The district will have meal pick up on Tuesdays and Thursdays in front of North Ridgeville High School between 8:30 am -10:30 am. Your student does not need to be present to pick up the meals.
Students that are enrolled in the hybrid learning option now have the opportunity to take home meals at the end of the school day. Meals will be provided to take home on Tuesdays for Group A students, Wednesdays for high school students, and Fridays for Group B students.
If you qualify or think you may qualify for free or reduced lunch, please still apply to the program. Information about free and reduced lunch can be found on the food service page on the district website. If families need assistance accessing or completing this application, please reach out to the Operations Department at 440-353-1109.
