Hello Ivy Families,

We are in the busy season here at Ivy Hill! Our end of the year festivities will be starting in the next few weeks! It's an exciting time!

As you look through this copy of The Landing you'll notice that we have LOTS of activities coming up - please be sure to read through and look for grade level announcements from your child's teacher. You won't want to miss a thing!

We're very excited to welcome our students to the 2022-2023 school year! You should have received an email from the District Office giving you a specific code to enroll your child. We are already in planning mode for next year!

District 25 began providing instruction in compliance with Erin’s Law during the 2015­-16 school year. Age­ appropriate instruction helps students recognize unsafe situations, how to keep themselves safe and understand how to respond to unsafe situations.

School social workers work with each grade level to provide age ­appropriate information on topics such as: safe versus unsafe touching, the touching rule, secrets, and reporting. For more information on the specific topics and activities that will be covered, please visit the district website.

If you would like to "opt" your student out of this presentation, please fill out the attached form and send it back prior to the presentation day. Classroom teachers will be sharing the specific day of the presentation.

Each year our goal is to create the most balanced classroom based on academics, support, and classroom relationships for each child. The process involves current teachers and support staff considering all the school factors.

We have multiple team meetings to make sure we are taking every factor into consideration. The entire process takes over a month to complete as we work through all the grade levels. The class list is not finalized until mid-August as we navigate any summer move-ins/outs.

This year we want to provide parents an opportunity to share a little more about their child(ren). This form is optional for current kindergarten to fourth-grade students. Please note that any specific teacher requests will not be accepted.

Pre Registration for our Kindergarten 2022-2023 program opened on January 12th! If you have a child that will be eligible for our program, please pre register them now! Because Ivy Hill reached our goal of raising $1,000 for ABC25, the kids now have the chance to "silly string" Mr. Kaese and Mrs. Lempke! Mrs. Taranda and Mrs. Sisi have secured 50 cans of silly string and our teachers have selected 2 students from each class to be our "designated sprayers"! We are ready to go! Because of the rain on Friday, we will enjoy our Silly String event on MONDAY, MAY 9th at 3:15 in front of the school!

District 25 Student Art Show

Monday, May 2 through Wednesday, May 25

Arlington Heights Memorial Library | First Floor

Some of our students will have their artwork on display at the AHML. Look for details to come from our art teachers, Mrs. Siegel and Ms. Drury.

The PTA will feature the film Sing2 for our very first outdoor movie night! Please join us on the Ivy Hill lawn with a chair or blanket. Children must be accompanied by an adult at ALL times during the show and there is a maximum of 2 adults allowed per family. Kiki's Food Truck will be on site to sell popcorn, cotton candy, icees and lemonade! Join us at 7:30 pm to get your spot on the lawn - the show will run from 8:00 - 10:00. Rain Date is scheduled for May 20th.

Staff Appreciation Week was a huge hit! We all felt like "Hollywood Stars" with our cake, our swag bags, our flowers, our pizza and our gifts! A special Ivy shout out to Mrs. Cook for all her hard work! We had about 12 volunteers that came in and helped with our lunch supervision on Friday so that everyone could enjoy the full lunch hour! From all of us...THANK YOU!!

Mrs. Hein is collecting Dental Exams from all kindergarteners and 2nd graders. Your dental exam must be on the State of Illinois form and cannot be more than 18 months old. We can accept any exam that is dated after November 15, 2021. Dental exams are due by May 15th.

The office holds the official attendance log for our students. Please let them know when your child will be absent, leaving early or arriving late. You can call or email anytime! Even if you let your child's teacher know....LET THE OFFICE KNOW TOO!

Breakfast is available at Ivy Hill every morning. If you would like your child to eat before school begins, please send them to the office by 8:45 a.m. Cereal and milk will be available at no charge.

We do SHIELD testing every Thursday at Ivy Hill. The date to enroll your child in this program has passed. If you'd like to unenroll your child from SHIELD testing, please click the link below.

There is still time to join the ABC/25 Foundation! The ABC/25 Foundation provides powerful grants that schools can earn which can benefit all students. Over the past 24 years, the Foundation has raised and contributed over one million dollars to fund numerous projects and grants for District 25 students and teachers.
