Activity buses are available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week.
Important Notes for This Week
1. End of Marking Period 2 and Attendance
The end of Marking Period 2 is quickly approaching. Marking Period 2 ends on next Tuesday, January 28.We encourage students to work with their teachers this week to make up any assignments and retake any assessments during lunch and afterschool.
We want to emphasize the importance of students attending each day to help with their academic success. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s grade level administrator, counselor, or team leader if you need any support during the last few weeks of the marking period.
2. Parent-Child Reunification Drill
We will be conducting a safety drill on Tuesday known as the Parent Child Reunification. We will be asking families in the carpool lane at 2:50 pm to participate.
3. Basketball Games This Week
Our boys and girls basketball teams have their second game of the season vs. Argyle. Girls will be home and boys will be away. Students who want to watch the girls game can sign up for tickets using the link found on their Canvas page.
4. 2025-2026 Course Registration
Attention 6th and 7th Grade Families, please note that registration cards for next year were distributed last week. 6th and 7th grade students can register for their elective classes using the registration cards and they are due Tuesday, January 28. More information about elective courses and digital copies of the registration card can be found in the Parkland Newsletter or on the Parkland website. Lastly, families please note that students will automatically be registered for their English, Math, Science, and Social Studies courses based on recommendations. Students and families will be able to see their recommendations on Synergy. Please also note that any students who are not recommended for the next level course will receive a phone call from their counselor or teacher.
5. Outdoor Education - New Dates!
The new Outdoor Education dates for students in sessions 3 and 4 have been finalized. Students who were staying overnight will go to Outdoor Education on Monday, June 2 through Wednesday, June 4. Students were attending day-only will attend Outdoor Education on Wednesday June 4 and Thursday, June 5.

Makom is thrilled to offer students an incredible opportunity to earn SSL hours while making a difference in the community on Sunday, January 19, 2025!
Makom, an organization supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is launching an annual MLK Day of Service tradition:
Makom MLK Day - Doing Tikkun Olam Together.
This impactful event will feature six stations where participants will create items for six different communities in need, including:
- Children in hospitals
- Women in shelters
- Individuals experiencing homelessness
- Seniors in nursing homes
- Pets in shelters
- Healthcare providers
The event is open to everyone regardless of age, background, or religion, and will take place at:

We are thrilled to share that SSL hours will be awarded, thanks to approval from the Montgomery County Volunteer Center.

2. Middle School Maker Night
KID Museum's Middle School Maker Night is on Friday, January 24 from 5:30-8 pm at our 3 Bethesda Metro Center location. Students in Grades 6, 7 and 8 will take over the museum as they try a variety of maker challenges using a wide array of tools and materials.
- Tickets are $10 per student but we also offer scholarships if cost is a barrier.
- Pizza and drinks will be provided to everyone who attends.
- Students will need to provide their own transportation to the museum.
