Dear Dolphin families,

Kudos to some of our Student Lighthouse Leaders who co-presented at the 2024 Leader in Me Symposium last Thursday via Zoom. They did a fantastic job sharing our journey, best practices and many celebrations!

Our SIC Chair Dusty Lanning attended the Joint SIC Meeting on 1/18/24 and has important information to share about upcoming changes to the 24-25 and beyond Academic School Year Calendars. We will have our next BCHS SIC Meeting on 2/5/24 @ 5:30PM- please plan on attending! We also begin 24-25 planning this month for Creek which we will discuss.

As of Friday 2/2, 93.9% of our students are entering school daily in complete uniform compliance! The significant majority of students are leading us to excellence! Please remind your child(ren) that they need to keep his/her ID worn around the neck. This enables us to easily identify all students.

School Counseling News and Upcoming Events!

S1 seat time is ongoing from 7:30-8:30AM and 4-5PM M-TH.

Both take place in the Media Center. 2/21/24 is the last day for S1 Seat Time recovery per state law (30 days after a class ends).

Registration forms for before and after school tutoring must be returned by all students attending tutoring. Contact: elizabeth.severide@beaufort.k12.sc.us

WRESTLING will be preparing for lower states slated for next week - 12 have qualified and 4 wrestlers are REGION CHAMPS!!!

ACADEMICS - Put First Things First

NHS juniors and seniors are now available to help with assignments or studying for tests for ALL subject areas during Leadership! Core teachers have received suggestions on how to implement and best utilize our tutors. Tutors are available Mon/Wed during Leadership and Tuesday before/after school, both in the media center.

PLEASE plan to utilize this free and powerful service from our student leaders!

Paradigm of the Week - Empower Students to Lead Their Learning

Leadership Courses at Creek: A component of our Leader in Me framework is our weekly Leadership courses & action team opportunities. These 1/2 credit (and GPA calculated) courses empower students to learn, develop and implement effective habits for daily living & lifelong success. Overview listed below:

9th - 7 Habits of Effective People

10th - Find YOUR Voice (Effective Communication)

11th - Take Charge - Life after Creek Graduation

12th - Inspire Others - How will you impact your community in life?

Completing these courses enables students to take exams at the end of the year to earn college elective credit. This year will be our 2nd year to offer these exams to interested students.

SENIOR MEETING

Friday February 9th at 8:45AM in the PAC. You will receive the Senior schedule. Required for students; if parent/guaridan wants to attend they must sign in at the Main Office with a photo ID.

S1 Recovery Needs

If you were not successful in one or more classes from S1, please reach out immediately. We need to put intervention plans in place to ensure on-track graduation progress. You need 12 credits (two math & two English) to be promoted to 11th grade in June.

Action Team Applications

The Student Lead Team is accepting applications to join an Action team. Selected students will meet monthly and help us as we work to make BCHS the best it can be. Applications can be picked up in D-215 and are due by February 9th. Email cresta.bernhisel@beaufort.k12.sc.us with questions!

Rising 9th Grade Events
