The mission of Sioux Center Christian School is to disciple God’s children by equipping them with a knowledge and understanding of Christ and His creation so that they can obediently serve God and others as they work and play.
Every Student TREASURED, Every Student TRAINED, Every Student TRANSFORMED
FROM MR. BRENNER:
I’ve spent some time over the summer thinking about what my Deep Hope is for the school year. Through this process, I was drawn to 1 John 4:19, “We love because He first loved us.”
I firmly believe that our strength and patience to love others can only be sustained through the work of the Holy Spirit. After studying and praying about how to live out this love, the words of the Apostle Paul were brought to my attention. He states in Ephesians 3:14-19:
“For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
Knowing “why” we love (because He first loved us) and “how” to live out this love (God works within us to help us love others) became the key elements of my Deep Hope statement:
My Deep Hope is that we understand and experience the measure of love God has given us through Jesus that we truly live in Him, relying on that love so we can love each other, our students, and our parents in such a way that all those we encounter will catch a glimpse of the Kingdom yet to come.
I didn’t realize until the morning I shared with our staff that the verses that led me to develop my Deep Hope are the lead-in verses to our overall Storyline verses for the year:
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21
I challenge each one of you to spend some time thinking about what your Deep Hope is for your child(ren) this school year.
