Family Culture Night This Thursday

Farewell From Mr. Richwalder

​By now you probably have heard from your child that I'm leaving Easley before the end of the school year. My wife and I moved to Durham in 2019 for her Residency at Duke University Hospital. She finished Residency last year and started a Fellowship at Duke. However, an amazing opportunity came along earlier than expected that she simply could not pass up. She started her new job in Atlanta, GA the last week of January. Rather than keep our family apart until the summer, I've had to make the difficult decision to leave Easley before the end of the school year.

There are far too many people to thank for making my time here at Easley the best teaching experience I've had. I do want to especially thank PTA for helping the STEAM program become as successful as it as. There was never a project, or plan I was unable to fund. It made thinking big and creating fun lessons for the Easley students possible. I also want to thank everyone who sent in consumable donations like cardboard, bottles, corks, etc. There was never an ask that was not fulfilled quickly by this amazing parent community.

While leaving the program that I built behind is both sad and difficult, I truly believe that I'm leaving it in a great place. Whomever replaces me will have supplies in impeccable condition and students eager to learn and build! I will be involved in planning the rest of the 2024 school year and helping to outline an overview of the course for the next teacher. I also told Jennifer I would continue to assist anyway I can.
