The Principal's Corner with Dr. Barlow
Happy New Year, Everyone!
I hope you had a great Christmas and winter break over the past three weeks. Our family enjoyed time with family and friends and enjoyed getting up past Strawberry, Ca to play in the snow a bit with family. We have much to be grateful for and I so appreciate all of our families and staff who make our school such a great place.
I want to give families a friendly reminder that January (the next three weeks through January 31), is your priority window to add your siblings to our TK-8 program or our HS program for the '25-'26 school year. Our requests for enrollment (RFEs) link opened this morning and we already have a lot of requests, so be sure to submit your RFE in the next couple weeks before the end of the month, otherwise, you will likely have challenges getting a space once you are competing with the large number of non-sibling applicants.
It is nice to hear that many of those seeking enrollment have heard a lot of good things from many of you about your experiences at HRCS!
Thank you,
Scott

Opera Modesto's literacy initiative is bringing Hansel & Gretel to schools around the Central Valley, starting at the State Theater! The opera is Hansel and Gretel about 90 minutes long plus intermission. Wonderful music, singing, acting, sets and costume, etc.
There are student and group discounts:
Students are $24 (any age with Student ID)
Special discount price for 14 and under, great for families: $14

It will be sung in English, in a contemporary English translation. The public performances include a wonderful Children's Chorus, plus the national level soloists, with hundreds of animated backdrop projections embedded with the sung text.
Hansel and Gretel is, of course, based on the famous Grimm Brothers Fairytale, but with a fun and family friendly production by Opera Modesto and the famous music of Engelbert Humperdinck.
