CASTLE CHRONICLES - DECEMBER 16, 2024
STOCKING UP ON KINDNESS!
Our National Honor Society members are spreading joy and hope this holiday season! They filled dozens of stockings with essentials like toiletries, hand and foot warmers, socks, rain ponchos, gift cards, snacks and personalized messages of encouragement. The stockings will be distributed at holiday breakfast sponsored by the Street Reach Program of Hyannis. We could not be prouder of our service-minded students giving back to our community.
Special thanks to NHS advisor, Ms. MARGIE LUCK for creating such important opportunities for our students to support local community efforts to improve the lives of those in need.

GRADE 8 TAKES A MINUTE-TO-WIN-IT!
Our GRADE 8 students brought the holiday spirit—and the canned goods! As a thank-you for their generous donations to the holiday food drive, they were entered to compete in exciting Minute-to-Win-It games during Knight Time on Friday. From silly challenges to friendly competition, it was a fun-filled way to celebrate their generosity while building grade-level spirit and community. What better way to give back and have a blast?!
Special thanks to the GRADE 8 STAFF for organizing such a fun event!
BEAMING WITH BLUE KNIGHT PRIDE!
On Sunday, December 8, 2024, the SMHS PTSA hosted the LAST BEST CRAFT FAIR right here at SMHS. Many students in grades 7-12 volunteered their time to help the vendors set up and dismantle their displays, be their 'go-to runners' for various needs and bring them water and snacks throughout the fair. We know we have the most extraordinary students, but it's always great to hear that others think so too!
Below, please find feedback the vendors shared regarding their experience interacting with our amazing SMHS students:
"I want to tell you want a great help the girls were at the craft fair. They were fantastic. I must say there are some strong girls there! They helped me a lot and I am most thankful!"
"The students that helped us set up were great! They were so helpful and accommodating."
"The students helping out in the morning and afternoon were wonderful. It was also great to have them walking around taking coffee and snack/lunch orders."
"Having the volunteers was also a nice bonus. They were friendly and helpful!"
"I enjoyed being at your school for the 2nd time and I'm always impressed with your volunteer students. They are such a great group!"
REAL-WORLD READY:
STUDENTS TACKLING CHALLENGES WITH THE EXPERTS
On Thursday, December 12, our PROJECT LEAD THE WAY (PTLW) COMPUTER SCIENCE and ENGINEERING students participated in the STUDENT SOLVE CHALLENGE, an exciting opportunity presented by Verizon and National Grid where students across Massachusetts were tasked with solving a real-world problem. Through teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving, students collaborated with industry professionals to gain hands-on experience while developing innovative solutions to authentic and relevant issues.
UNCOVERING CLUES: THE ART OF FINGERPRINT FORENSICS
The visit was hands-on (and hands-down fun!) for our students as they were given the opportunity to take their own patent fingerprints and to dust for their latent fingerprints as well.
THANK YOU to Bob Aldrich for partnering SMHS with the Barnstable County Sheriff's Office and a hearty THANK YOU to First Assistant CIO Smith and Assistant CIO Molino for sharing their expertise with our students!
