Parent Update
Hello KRMS families,
We are approaching the end of the school year rather quickly. With just over 7 weeks of the school year left I wanted to reach out with some important dates and information about upcoming events. More information about each items discussed can be found below in this newsletter.
Will will be starting another incentive program this month. Many students will have the chance to earn raffle prizes, including Amazon gift cards, "Knights Kash" to our school store and candy! I We hope that this will continue to motivate students to make respectful choices. We are very close to earning our second all school "reward" where students have asked teachers to wear a wig or have crazy hair for the day! Stay turned for more updates throughout the quarter.

NH SAS testing will be conducted this month. State assessments are an important part of a student’s core educational program. They provide an evaluation of student mastery of content and skills in various academic areas, serve as one tool for measuring the degree to which students are on track to graduate high school and be college- and career-ready, and help inform future instruction in the classroom. KRMS students will be taking the following assessments:
- Science - May 8 (Grade 8 ONLY)
- Math - May 15
- Reading - May 17
KRMS will be hosting a school dance on Friday, May 10th. We work with the transportation department and for a small fee, busses pick up at New Durham Elementary School, Ossipee Elementary School, and Court House Square in Ossipee. Drop off after the dance at the same locations are also provided. The cost each way is $2 and the entry to the dance is $5 per person. Snacks and drinks are available for additional costs.
Congratulations to our students who participated in the National History Day competition held at Plymouth University. Best of luck to the students who will be advancing to the national competition held in Washington DC. We are proud of your accomplishments. Special thanks to advisor Kristin Brown for organizing this for our students.
Also, great job to the students who were a part of Skills USA competition. We are so proud of the students and advisor, Karon Place for being one of the first middle schools in the state to participate in this program. Good luck to those who will be advancing to the national competition held in Georgia late this school year.
Over the last couple of years, we have not had a formal "promotion" for the 8th grade. We have shifted to providing opportunities for the students to be celebrated with school activities with their peers (a permission slip to Canobie Lake Park will be sent home soon) and an informal award assembly for the 8th graders that will occur during the school day on June 21st.
This is the time of year that can be a challenge for many children with a new transition coming up. We put many opportunities in place to support children with these transitions, however, behaviors can at times impact a student's access to extra opportunities, including the dance and potential field trips. Phones continue to be expected to be off and away (in a locker) during the school day and any and all support with this is greatly appreciated. As with distracted driving, phones create a distracted learning environment. Your assistance can also be helpful in supporting our district's dress code, especially with the warmer weather ahead.
We greatly appreciate your support and collaboration. If there is anything that I can assist you or your child with, please reach out to me directly.
Sincerely,
Kerry Hunt
