Recess
Unfortunately, this week the temperatures have not been in our favor during recess and the children have been indoors. Friday looks warmer and we are planning to go outside. Please send your child to school with the following items:
- winter coat
- gloves or mittens
- a hat
When we do get snow, students should bring snow boots and snow pants so that they can fully access the play area.
Items should be labeled with your child's name. If you have items your child has grown out of that you would like to donate to the school or your child needs any of these items, please reach out to Ann Rutherford at arutherford@maynard.k12.ma.us or Maria Bourgeois at mbourgeois@maynard.k12.ma.us.
Mid-Year Assessment Update
During the month of January students across the grades will participate in benchmark assessments to measure growth and plan for instruction. Families can expect to receive a copy of student results prior to February vacation. Assessments are done with familiar staff in the classroom or in a familiar small group space.
Here is a list of the assessments your child may participate in:
Kindergarten - Earlybird Early Literacy Assessment (English)

Grade 2 - mClass (DIBELS 8), MAP Growth ELA and Math (English)

Spanish Immersion Students in Kindergarten - Grade 3 will also take mClass (DIBELS 8) in Spanish. Grade 3 students will take MAP Growth Math in English.
English Language Learners will participate in ACCESS Testing (English) to measure growth in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
A Message from the School Nursing Department
Dear Green Meadow Families,
We want to remind you about our policy regarding the use of cough drops at school. Based on guidance from our school physician, cough drops are not permitted for students under the age of 12 during school hours. This policy is in place to ensure the safety of all our students, as cough drops can pose a choking hazard.
If your child is experiencing a persistent cough or throat discomfort, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider for appropriate remedies. Our school staff will also do their best to support your child while they are at school.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe environment for all our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Green Meadow health office at 978-897-8142.
Sincerely,
Nurse Ria and Nurse Rozie

Green Meadow Building Update
As you know from the communications shared by Superintendent Haas, Green Meadow will be undergoing work to repair damage from the water leak that happened on January 3. This weekend, the abatement work will be done by the environmental experts in the section of the building that is currently closed off to students and staff. This work will be contained throughout the process. Next weekend, any additional identified work will continue and air quality testing will be completed in this area. Once this work is done, installation of new materials will begin. We anticipate the project will be completed in 3-4 weeks and these areas will be reopened for use.

On January 12, 12:00-4:0, Maynard resident, Jennifer Rifkin Tyler, will be at the High School to assist families with the application process. While drop-ins are welcome, it may be beneficial to set up an appointment.
