Thank you, thank you to our fabulous WCHE PTO, our Tiger families, and community partners for making this week so much fun for our staff members. All of the WCHE staff feel very much appreciated.

Thanks to our fabulous PTO, supplies can be ordered online from schoolkidz at your convenience! The online prepackaged grade level supplies can be ordered through May 31, 2024. If you purchase your student school supplies online, the supplies will be delivered to the school before our "Meet the Teacher" event. Grade appropriate kits are available to order online now. Click here and use account #79519 to view our kits. Last day to order is May 31!

We also have lists of the school supplies for 2024-2025 so that, if you prefer, you can purchase the supplies on your own from any source convenient to you.

If you have a concern about the affordability of school supplies, please feel free to reach out to our School Counselor, Mr. Boren. We often have a limited supply of kits available, and he will be happy to discuss this with you.

If your child receives updated immunizations at his/her 11-year-old well check, please turn the record in to me. I will then be able to make sure that the immunization record is as up to date as possible before he/she is promoted to middle school.

If so, we hope you are willing to be a guest speaker for WCHE's Career Day on Thursday, May 9! We would be honored for you to share your expertise and excitement about your career with our students! By introducing our Tigers to a broad range of career possibilities, we hope to ignite new interests as they consider their future careers.

We are looking for parents or community members who would be willing to speak to classes of students about their jobs, when they first knew that they wanted to pursue this career, what was required to get them in that position (education,) how their job relates to their interests now, the most rewarding part of their job, and the most difficult part of their job. They will also have an opportunity to "show and tell" with props, photos, video clips, or demonstrations. Finally, they will be able to answer student questions.

Speakers will present to a particular grade level on Thursday, May 9, and they will present 4-5 sessions approximately 20 - 25 min each. Speakers will be selected by our Social Emotional Learning Team with the goal of representing a variety of career fields. If we have multiple volunteer speakers from similar career fields, speakers will be selected randomly.

Career Day Grade level schedule for Thursday, May 9

Kindergarten......12:00 - 2:00 pm

1st Grade...........12:45 - 2:45 pm

2nd Grade............8:00 - 10:00 am

3rd Grade.............9:00 - 11:00 am

4th Grade.............9:00 - 11:00 am

5th Grade.............8:00 - 10:00 am

Tigers who demonstrate PAWSitive behavior can be nominated to have their names added to our WOW Board. WOW Board members are then eligible to win a fun brag tag and Buddy Pass. The Buddy Pass entitles the student to enjoy lunch on the stage with a buddy of his/her choice.

During PE classes, all Tigers have been training to run a timed mile. One boy and one girl from each grade level will be chosen to represent West Cypress Hills Elementary in the LTISD's first annual District Mile Race.

These students will race against students in their grade level from the other elementary campuses in the district. More information and details will be sent home to the families of the students invited to attend the race.

Also, please remind your Tiger(s) to bring home all belongings they have in the classroom(s.)

We will be donating unclaimed possessions and the Lost & Found items after noon on May 24.

Our end of year class parties will be held on Thursday, May 23, for Kindergarten through 4th Grade Tigers. Here are the scheduled party times:

1st Grade...............1:00 - 1:30 pm

2nd Grade..............9:00 - 9:30 am

3rd Grade..............12:00 - 12:30 pm

4th Grade..............10:00 - 10:30 am

Hi families! We are looking forward to another amazing year in Kindergarten at WCHE!

The purpose of the Kindergarten Entry Evaluation is to assess your child's social and academic skills, as well as, assist administration and teachers in placing your child in the most conducive classroom environment based on your child's needs. WCHE Kindergarten and other grade level teachers and staff will be conducting the evaluations.

Our Entry Evaluations are Friday, August 2, 2024. Sign up here. On Friday, August 2, please bring your child to the designated room number that is assigned to the time slot for which you have signed up your child. Please pick up your child from that same room at the designated end time.
