Message from Dawn & Cam
With May just around the corner we are excited for the vibrant activities we have planned for our students and their families in the coming weeks!
First and foremost, mark your calendars for our Family STEAM Night on May 2nd at 6pm. It promises to be a fun-filled evening where science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics come alive through interactive projects and demonstrations. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase their innovative projects and for families to engage in the joy of learning together.
Next up, we are thrilled to announce the Soccer Academy Kit Fit Night on May 8th from 6-8pm. This event is crucial for all soccer academy members to ensure they have the perfect fit for their kits. It’s also a great chance to meet the coaches and learn more about our program goals for the year.
Don’t forget about our Growing Smiles Fundraiser Flower Pickup on May 9th from 12noon to 5pm. Thanks to your generous support, our school garden will continue to bloom beautifully. Please come pick up your flowers and see how your contributions help our students grow.
Lastly, our Grade 6 students are gearing up for an adventure at the Strathcona Wilderness Centre for their Overnight Camp on May 9th & 10th. This excursion is a wonderful opportunity for hands-on learning and building lasting memories outside the classroom.
We look forward to seeing you at these events and thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm!

Soccer Academy Kit Fit Night
We are thrilled to share that registration for our Soccer Academy has been a resounding success! Due to the enthusiastic response, we will be organizing our students into two groups to ensure personalized attention and optimal training conditions.
Additionally, we are pleased to announce a special evening on Wednesday, May 8th from 6-8pm in the SAM Gym for all our Soccer Academy students and their families. This event will provide an opportunity to connect with our Soccer Academy Coordinator, Jeff Paulus, and to size your soccer kits, including shorts, shirts, and socks. Our Soccer Academy gear will be provided by Macron which does fit tighter than Adidas, Umbro or Nike. We will have sample sizes available for the students to try before confirming their clothing order. Please feel free to drop-in at any time between 6 - 8 pm.
*Families will need to pay their next $150 non-refundable deposit before students will be provided their soccer academy kit.
Engagement on Cell Phone Use in Schools
The Honourable Demetrios Nicolaides, Minister of Education, wants to hear from teachers, parents, and other staff about cellphone use in schools. You are invited to participate in an online survey about the future of cellphone use in elementary, junior high, and senior high schools.
You can access the survey at Survey Link. Please share this information with staff and parents and encourage them to share their views. The survey will be open until May 3, 2024.
Input from this targeted engagement will help inform potential future government direction.

SAM Spirit Awards
Each month at our SAM Spirt Assembly we will recognize the incredible contributions of our students, staff, and volunteers who help make SAM an amazing school to come to every day. The SAM SPIRIT Award is a monthly themed award where teachers choose two students from their class to recognize for demonstrating our SAM SPIRIT qualities. This month, we recognized students who "Light up the Class with Positivity". Congratulations to our SAM Spirit Award Winners!
