February Newsletter

A NOTE FROM SUPERINTENDENT DR. DAVID CHRISTOPHER
Dear WCASD Community,
As we move through the school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible teamwork, resilience, and dedication that make WCASD such a special place. No matter what challenges come our way, I have no doubt that our community will continue to support one another and help our students thrive.
And what better way to highlight the power of working together than by looking at the history of the Philadelphia Eagles? (As a Pittsburgh fan, I’d love to highlight the six-time Super Bowl-winning Steelers—but don't worry, I do know where I live!)
The Eagles have given us unforgettable moments of perseverance and excellence—qualities I see in our students, staff, and families every day. From their first NFL Championship in 1948, played in a literal blizzard, to their Super Bowl LII victory in 2018, when the underdog team shocked the world with the legendary “Philly Special,” the Eagles have always embodied grit and determination.
Just like the Eagles, our school community tackles challenges head-on, supports one another, and pushes forward to ensure success for our students. Teamwork with a shared goal is what makes champions—on the field, in our schools, and throughout our community.
As we look ahead, let’s remember: we are one team, and together, we win (and hopefully the Eagles will too!). I’ll see you as we walk the West Chester way together!

OUTSTANDING MUSIC AND ARTS ACHIEVEMENTS IN WCASD
Spotlight on Fugett Middle School!
It was a great day at FMS with all of the 5th graders from our feeder schools coming to visit! The Chorale, Jazz Band, and Orchestra all performed for the students, as well as two of the leads for the upcoming production of Crazy for You.
Students heard from all of our music teachers about their options for music classes and extracurriculars in middle school, and were led on tour by some of our 6th grade music students!
The Fugett Music Department also had a fantastic night at the first annual Music Quizzo Night fundraiser! 28 teams competed for various prizes with over 150 people in attendance, including some of our faculty!
Music teachers Jenna Yagel and Matt Hill served as the emcees and quizmasters for 5 rounds of questions, many parents came together to organize the event, and multiple local businesses supported the effort by sponsoring rounds and prizes!
