SFCS celebrates 27 Years of Growing Together in Faith & Knowledge
Dear SFCS Parents & Friends,
Happy Monday! I was looking at the last six weeks of our academic year and my they are full! You will receive an email with the dates and times of the events listed below. We intentionally leave out the times as a measure of safety.
Our 7th and 8th grades traveled to Washington, D.C. last Thursday returning early this morning. Please be on the lookout for a special edition of the Weekly Howl - Washington, D.C. Edition for all the highlights of the trip. The group rode 1164 miles in a luxury coach bus. They walked tens of thousands of steps. They saw many incredible historical sites. They had a bazillion laughs. Thirty-nine pairs of tired feet returned safely home. We are grateful for the chaperones who traveled with our students and kept a watchful eye on their safety.
We are delighted to present to our students on Thursday of this week, an international pianist, Zhu Wang, at a special assembly. Zhu Wang was the youngest winner of the Hilton Head Island International Piano Competition. Zhu won the competition when he was 14. He is now 24 performing professionally around the world.
Let's continue to partner together to help your student(s) stay academically engaged amidst the fourth quarter activities and finish this year strong!
Here's to a fabulous week ahead!
Blessings,
Andrea
Andrea Smith, M.Ed., LPC, NCC
Principal

PRE-K - Creating Art
PreK enjoyed "Messy Friday" creating beautiful art!
KINDERGARTEN - The Solar Eclipse
Kindergarteners worked together to make playdoh models of the eclipse - sun, moon and earth! They also made their own eclipse pictures exploring the corona or ring of fire around the sun.
1st Grade - Mystery Reader and STEM
The first graders had a busy week back from Easter break! The class had two mystery readers this week. The students learned about the Solar Eclipse and made a model of this phenomenon. (see "On Our Campus" feature below)
The students also learned about the Paschal candle and identified it in the Church. During science, the class learned that sound is made from vibration. The students were engaged in a STEM project using plastic cups and string to make "phones" as part of their learning about how sound travels. The class discovered that the tighter the string the better they can hear their classmate on the other end because the string vibrates more when it is tight, so sound travels more efficiently.
4th Grade - Pet of the Week
On Friday, Atticus shared his family pet, Hobie, with the 4th grade class. Kindergarten came by to say hello!
5th Grade - STEM Projects
What better way to spend a rainy Thursday afternoon than with our KiwiCo kits! 5th Grade made the most of a soggy afternoon with these fun STEM projects.
