Dear Hayshire Families,

National Custodian Day is celebrated on October 2 to honor the work of custodians in keeping our schools safe and clean. We are so grateful for Mr. John, Miss Dody, and their crew! They make Hayshire sparkle and shine!

On Thursday, October 10, Hayshire Staff will participate in the Annual CYSD Homecoming Parade. Our Hayshire crew will feature Favorite Storybook Characters. The community parade around the high school will take place at 6:15 PM. In addition to the parade, the festivities will include food trucks starting at 4:00 PM, a community pep-rally including the Panther Marching Band, and Central Athletic Teams inside Panther Stadium following the parade. We hope to see you there!

All children are welcome to participate in the Homecoming Spirit Days (There's no place like home!) for the week of October 7.

Friday 10/11 | There's No Place Like Home: Sport your orange and black gear!

Our Hayshire School Spirit Night is scheduled for Friday, October 11 at Laser Alleys. Tickets include two hours of unlimited glow bowling, shoe rental, and laser tag games! Tickets must be purchased in advance. Wednesday, October 9 is the last day to buy tickets! For more information, see the flyer below.

Just a reminder... Stuff-A-Mascot orders are due Friday, October 11! See below for more details.

This year, conferences will take place Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25. Conferences will be in person at Hayshire! All families will use Skyward to schedule a Parent-Teacher Conference. The Conference Scheduler will open in Skyward beginning Monday, September 30 at 8:00 AM. This will allow you flexibility to select a time. The Parent-Teacher Conference provides a time to meet with the teacher and learn more about your child's progress, academically, socially, and emotionally.

School pictures are ready! To order, log into your account on mylifetouch.com or create an account using your child's student ID number. Picture retakes are scheduled for Wednesday, November 6.

Our first wave of Second Grade Swimming has begun! Students from Knisley, Stremmel, Caufield, and Slatt will finish their five day series of lessons on October 8. Students from Hughes and Shuey will head to the pool on October 9.

Save the Date!

Our first Hayshire Family Night is scheduled for Thursday, October 17 from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm. This event will involve pumpkin decorating. Families will bring their own pumpkin and creativity! All supplies will be waiting for you. In addition to the pumpkins, we will have the Scholastic Book Fair! Sarah's Creamery is coming too! 20% of what they make will go back to our Hayshire PTO.

Thank you to everyone who attended our last PTO meeting! Our next meeting is Thursday, November 7 at 6:00 pm in the library. Once again, PTO will provide child care during the meeting. We can’t wait to see you!
Hayshire will be hosting the Fall Book Fair on October 17 from 6:00-7:30 PM and October 19 from 10:00-12:00 PM. This event is always a big hit! We will need volunteers to help out during the book fair and with setting up and closing down. We are also offering a Fall Book Fair Preview during school hours on October 15 and 16. Students will have an opportunity to browse books and make a wish list during this time. If students would like to purchase a book, they can return with their caregivers on Thursday or Saturday to shop! Please click on the button(s) below to sign up as a volunteer for these events.

The PTO Fundraiser is coming soon! Back by popular demand, The PAWS-ITIVE POWER FUNDRAISER is donation only. The Fundraiser will run from October 16 to October 30! More information is coming your way!

Stuff - A - Mascot

We’re thrilled by the interest and excitement for Stuff-A-Panther Night! This event is designed as a community gathering for students to come together and make the Positive Power Panthers. However, due to the number of people who have reached out saying they’re unable to attend on 11/14, we’ve decided to offer a take-home kit option.

If ordering online, please check the kit box on the online form. If ordering through the paper form, mark "KIT" near the order total. Please only select this option if you truly need it, as our goal is to bring everyone together for the event.

Important note: Kits will be sent home with your child. There will be no additional pick-up date. The items will be secured in a large bag and stapled shut, but we cannot guarantee that the kits will make it home safely after leaving the school.

Central York School District is excited to announce that we have partnered with Linewize by Family Zone, a leading education technology company, to provide District families and students with the highest quality of online safety and digital wellness education.

As members of the Central York Community, you have access to an Online Safety Hub, as well as free parent/guardian access to the Qustodio App, a parental control app that allows families insight and control of their child’s device usage.

Qustodio App

The Qustodio App allows parents access to monitor and supervise their child’s time online. By signing up, parents can monitor their child’s activity on their school-issued device, as well as up to two additional personal devices at no cost.

The app enables parents to:

Receive reports and alerts on your child’s school-time activity
Enable and disable internet access
Receive guidance and tips on digital trends and threats

Access to features on your child’s school-issued device will be effective during non-school hours. Usage on two free personal devices is 24/7. Parents must use the email associated with their Skyward account.

Online Safety Hub

The Online Safety Hub includes helpful parent advice guides, app and game reviews, online safety quizzes, resources, and access to information about the Qustodio App.

Please note that you may receive an invite or email from the Qustodio App. This is an optional service offered to District families.

CYSD Device Protection Plan

Central York School District offers optional protection plans for your child’s District issued devices.

The protection plan fully covers your child’s device for any accidental damage that occurs. The cost is $25 per year for iPads and $60 per year for Macbooks.
