September 2024
The SST1 Newsletter for Busy Educators
September is Attendance Awareness Month
September is Attendance Awareness Month, highlighting the link between regular school attendance and academic success. Missing just two to three excused or unexcused days a month can lead to chronic absenteeism causing students to have difficulty learning to read proficiently, performing well academically, graduating on time, and being workforce-ready.
The websites below contain information and resources that emphasize the need for schools, families, and communities to work together on strategies and interventions to reduce absences. Click on the picture to access each website.
Early Childhood PBIS Training Modules Available
The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, in collaboration with the Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence (OCALI), developed a series of training modules focused on implementing the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework in early childhood settings through grade 3. The Early Childhood PBIS training modules are designed for administrators, school personnel, families, and community members who support PBIS implementation.
To learn more about Early Childhood PBIS coaching for leadership teams to complement the modules, contact Heather Gaskins.
