FAQ
Can I get more tickets?
Possibly, this depends on whether or not extra tickets are turned in. We are asking that any extra tickets be returned to homeroom teachers, so we can redistribute to those who ask for extras.
Will grades K-4 be present at the promotion ceremony?
The lower grades will not be in attendance, if you wish for a younger sibling to be there you will need to use one of your four tickets for them.
Can I take my child after the ceremony?
Absolutely! Go out, have lunch, relax, enjoy the day, and your child’s accomplishments. Please sign your child out with their homeroom teacher.
After promotion, is there school the rest of the week for 5th graders?
Although formal instruction is over, June 10th - 13th are school days.
There will be so many people, where can I park?
You can park in the Sherwood E.S. parking lot as long as there is room. Guests can also park across the street at the church. Please do not park in the bus lane or at the vet - you will be towed!

Summer School Enrollment
This year, MCPS is offering an invitation-only, in-person summer school for students who would benefit from the experience of additional time with the core learning from the current grade level.
The Extended Learning Opportunities Additional Targeted Support Improvement Elementary Summer Program can give students an academic boost!
Summer school will be held at Olney Elementary School for students from Sherwood Elementary School. Bus transportation will be provided at centralized locations. This means the number of bus stops is reduced from normal school year routes.
The program runs from Monday, July 8- Friday, August 2. Daily hours for our program are tentatively 9:30 am-2:00 pm. The learning day will include lessons supporting the key concepts of the grade level just completed in English Language Arts, Mathematics, STEM, Social Studies, and hands-on exploration. The schedule will also include breaks.
There will be time for lunch. Currently, at our school location, lunch will not be provided. Students are encouraged to pack a bagged lunch each day.
Families of invited students should have received an email with the enrollment form this week. Please reach out to Mr. Vaughn-Smith, Assistant Principal with any questions.
