Reimagining Math Education
Spatial-Temporal (ST) Math® is the leader in visual math instruction and represents the highest quality and most effective blended learning math solution in K-12 education.
Created by MIND Research Institute, ST Math is game-based instructional software for K-12 and is designed to boost math comprehension and proficiency through visual learning. Integrating with classroom instruction and identified by the CEO-led Change the Equation as one of just four STEM programs ready to scale nationally, ST Math incorporates the latest research in learning and the brain and promotes mastery-based learning and mathematical understanding. The ST Math software games use interactive, graphically-rich animations that visually represent mathematical concepts to improve conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills.
Whether in the classroom, computer lab or at home, learning never stops with ST Math. When teachers bring ST Math into the classroom, projected onto a screen or interactive whiteboard, the software games help students make connections between the visual representations from ST Math and symbolic representations found in their core instruction. What is Spatial-Temporal Reasoning? Born out of neuroscience research at the University of California, Irvine, MIND’s unique approach accesses the brain’s innate “spatial-temporal” reasoning ability. This ability, which lies at the core of innovative thinking and sophisticated problem-solving, allows the brain to hold visual, mental representations in short-term memory and to evolve them in both space and time, thinking multiple steps ahead. Dedicated Time
In order for people to learn a concept or anything new that has steps to get to the finish line, requires practice. Students really like to work with JiJi and want to finish their time each week.
K-1 is 60 minutes per week
2-4 is 90 minutes per week
Time logged into the computer should be at least in 15-20 minutes at a time for the computer to calculate any positive activity. Less time could possible show your class having alerts or concerns.
ST MATH
Station time is the best time to use ST Math. It can be used in the afternoons while waiting on buses. After the first week or so of school, procedures will be ingrained and time will surface.
We do not set ST Math for homework. As students work through games at school, they can replay them at home.
