Message from Superintendent: AISD Snow Days Follow-Up
(This message was sent to all parents on Wednesday, Jan. 15)
I hope this message finds you well and that you enjoyed the beautiful snow we experienced across Argyle ISD last week. It was heartwarming to see everyone sharing their snow pictures, and we truly appreciated the sense of community during this unique weather event.
I would like to take a moment to thank Denton County Emergency Management, the National Weather Service out of Fort Worth, and our colleagues in surrounding Denton County school districts for their round-the-clock communication and collaboration. These partnerships were invaluable in allowing us to make informed and timely decisions regarding weather-related school closures and ensuring the safety of our families and staff.
You may be wondering about the required make-up days for the two school days missed due to the snow. Under Texas legislation, school districts are required to operate on a set number of instructional minutes each school year. Currently, the Argyle ISD school calendar includes sufficient instructional minutes to cover the missed time, meaning we do not anticipate needing to use our designated inclement weather makeup days.
Texas winters can be challenging and Argyle ISD will stay vigilant about upcoming extreme winter weather patterns. Should additional school closures occur during this semester, we will reassess the use of the designated bad weather days. For now, the scheduled bad weather days on March 7 and April 21 will remain school holidays for staff and students.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

AISD Finalizes Purchase of Land for Schools
Argyle ISD recently finalized the purchase of approximately 35 acres of the Furst Ranch development along US 377. This deal includes the option to accept an additional 15 acres adjacent to the purchased land for a combined 50-acre site to be used for future schools.
These land tracts are in the Flower Mound portion of Furst Ranch along frontage acreage on the east side of US 377. The land was purchased for $9.6 million, and funding was made possible by the voter-approved 2022 bond proposal.
The Furst Ranch master-planned community is owned by Jack Furst, a long-time Denton County resident and former Argyle ISD parent. This new development includes 2,300 acres at the intersection of FM 1171 and US 377 and construction is underway on homes in the northern sector. The entire Furst Ranch property is within the Argyle ISD boundaries.
“We are grateful to those in our communities that voted for the 2022 bond that helped make this land purchase for school facilities possible,” AISD School Board President Sam Slaton said. “We are also grateful for Jack Furst's generous 15-acre land donation to the district. As we continue to grow and look towards the future, it is exciting to know that this partnership has helped secure a site location for many future Argyle students.”
AISD plans for the property include a future middle school and elementary school. The district expects students from Furst Ranch to begin enrolling in 2026 or 2027. The first phase of Furst Ranch includes 1,000 homes.
