2023-2024 School-Parent Compact
Our Goals For Student Achievement
Our district has set some clear goals for the upcoming school year. We want to see more students scoring at the achieving or above level in both literacy and mathematics. To achieve this, we will be implementing a range of initiatives, including updating our curriculum, phonics series, and preschool programs, as well as prioritizing social-emotional learning and assessment to ensure that our planning and instruction are as effective as possible. These goals are an important step towards creating a better educational experience for all of our students, and we are committed to working hard to meet them.
What is a School-Parent Compact? It Is Jointly Developed.
A School-Parent Compact for Achievement is an agreement that parents. students, and teachers develop together. It explains how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all our students reach grade-level standards.
The parents and staff at the Early Childhood Center developed this School-Parent Compact for Achievement. Teachers from various disciplines (ESL, Special Education, General Education) collaborated with parents on how to best enrich and build upon relationships, communication and overall decisions regarding our students. Additionally, parent responses to the survey helped to drive the direction of curriculum and school activities.
We look forward to building relationships in a positive and supportive manner.
Early Childhood Center School Goals
The Early Childhood Center is thrilled to work together with parents to improve student achievement in ELA, Mathematics, and social-emotional learning and skills. The preschool program at the Early Childhood Center is expanding, with a curriculum called the Creative Curriculum that is research-based and helps improve Kindergarten readiness skills. Additionally, we are excited to introduce UFLI Foundations, a program that teaches students the foundational skills necessary for proficient reading. The program is designed to be used for core instruction in the primary grades or for intervention with struggling students in any grade. We are also using Fundations, a multisensory and systemic phonics, spelling, and handwriting program that supports foundational reading, writing, and language standards for our ELLS. Our assessment data is stored in the LinkIt database, and Kindergarten students will have the opportunity to engage in benchmark assessments two times during the school year to evaluate their knowledge and skills. Finally, we plan on continuing our festive activities for this school year, including Winter Wonderland, field trips, parenting trainings and other various celebrations.

Teachers, Parents, Students-Together For Success
The Palisades Park School District is dedicated to providing helpful, fair, and safe environment. The ECC staff will plan for and implement math and literacy workshops for parents during the school year. These workshops would provide an opportunity for parents to collaborate with teachers on effective strategies that they can apply at home to support their children's education. In addition, technology nights will be organized to help parents learn how to navigate and access Genesis and Class DoJo, thereby improving communication with teachers and keeping track of their children's progress. To aid families who are new to the education system, a newcomers program could be established to provide support and assistance in navigating the educational process. This program would be especially beneficial as families may feel overwhelmed and unsure of how to approach the complex system. Furthermore, an orientation "kick off" could be held for both parents and students, complete with fun activities and refreshments, to help everyone feel more engaged and excited about the educational process. With these initiatives in place, parents will be better equipped to support their children's learning and feel more connected to the school community. By empowering parents with the tools and knowledge they need to help their children succeed, the educational system as a whole will be strengthened, benefiting everyone involved.
Parent Outreach Opportunities
As a parent, there are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved and learn more about the Early Childhood Center. With a volunteer program and open school door policy, you can easily find ways to participate and engage with your child's education. Some fantastic opportunities for ECC parents include things like Parent-Teacher Conferences, becoming a Classroom Mom or Dad, attending a Nutrition & Social-Emotional Night, or joining an Attendance Workshop. Whatever your interests or availability, there are plenty of ways for you to get involved and support your child's learning and growth.
Communication about Student Learning
At the Early Childhood, we are committed to frequent two-way communication with families about their children's learning. You can expect us to reach you through a variety of channels, including a daily school-to-home folder, a trimester ECC newsletter outlining activities, updates on the district's website and current grades/progress in Genesis, frequent communication via Class DoJo, Wednesday meetings, and attendance meetings. Our goal is to keep you informed and engaged in your child's education, so please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. We are here to support you every step of the way!
As Parents We Will
As a dedicated parent, it's important to stay on top of your child's education and well-being. Checking their daily school-to-home folder for completed assignments and attending family/parent meetings offered by the ECC are great ways to stay involved. You should also make sure your child is well-rested, fed and attending school regularly. Checking the Palisades Park School district website/Genesis website and your child's homeroom teacher's Class DoJo can also help you stay informed about your child's progress. Encourage your child to have fun with math and reading and use materials provided by their teachers to enrich their academic experience. Don't forget to look for the ECC newsletter to stay up-to-date on activities offered, and consider volunteering as a classroom mom or dad to show your support.
