COMMUNITY UPDATE
Hello North Rockland Families,
As we prepare to welcome Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, I would like to extend my warmest wishes to all our families celebrating this meaningful occasion. In observance of the holiday, our schools will be closed on Thursday, October 3 and Friday, October 4, allowing our students and staff time to reflect, renew and celebrate with their loved ones. Rosh Hashanah is a time for hope and new beginnings and we hope everyone observing can enjoy this time as they look ahead to the year to come.
In October, we continue our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, honoring the rich cultures, histories and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx communities. This month provides a meaningful opportunity for all of us to deepen our understanding of the diverse experiences that shape our district and to recognize the significant influences these cultures have on our society.
Additionally, as flu season approaches, we need to take the proper precautions to protect our children and families. We encourage you to review the New York State Department of Health's Fight Flu at Home and School Flyer for information on flu symptoms, vaccination recommendations and tips for keeping our community well. Together, we can ensure a safe and healthy environment for all.
Finally, I want to remind everyone to join us this Saturday, October 5 at 1:45 PM for the official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for our new and improved Casarella Field at Cordisco Stadium. We invite you to join us for this momentous occasion as we celebrate our district's rich history and diverse accomplishments and look forward to a bright future together.
We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend and we look forward to seeing many of you on Saturday to celebrate our Red Raiders!

#PointsOfPride - Celebrating National Custodian Day
Happy National Custodian Day!
This week, we celebrated National Custodian Day, honoring the hard work and dedication of our custodial staff. Their efforts keep our schools clean, safe and welcoming, creating an environment where students and staff can thrive.
As a token of our appreciation, the administration treated our custodians to refreshing smoothies. Thank you for all you do to keep everything running smoothly!
Stony Point Elementary Gets Their 'Forever Friends'
Last week, our elementary students took their first steps in building lasting bonds through the 'Forever Friends' program! Older students were paired with younger peers, forming mentor-mentee partnerships that will foster positive behaviors and friendships throughout the year. For these students, it's just the start of a special journey filled with learning, growth and support!
Seventh Grade Social
Our seventh graders came together for their first middle school social, a fun-filled afternoon designed to help them connect as they transition from three different elementary schools into one cohesive class. The event featured a showcase of the many clubs available, offering something for everyone—from Student Government and Drone Club to Fishing and Art. In between, students enjoyed games like basketball, volleyball and angle ball. But the highlight of the day was simply the chance to hang out and get to know each other, laying the foundation for new friendships and a strong sense of community in their new school.
Athletics
Jasiya Lee
Jasiya is a senior captain on the North Rockland High School cheerleading team! She is known to be kind, accepting, and always inclusive. She works hard at practices and always comes prepared to do whatever is needed to get the job done, which is one of the many reasons she earned her the role of captain this year. Her hard work ethic came into play when she had to change her position from a strong base to a backspot. While nervous and unsure, she embraced the change because she knew it was what the team needed. Jasiya also volunteers her time training young athletes in the North Rockland Pop Warner Youth Cheer program, where she works with kids on their skills. She is a wonderful role model and is loved and adored by the children she trains.
