On February 13th our 5th grade students had the opportunity to perform for Malta Ave students and families in our beautiful auditorium. Leading up to their performances, they had worked incredibly hard each week since December with highly-trained SPAC teaching artists and musicians to learn a dance. They did an outstanding job! We are incredibly grateful that we had the opportunity to partner with the SPAC Dance Residency Program again this year to bring Malta students a world-class dance experience.

Super Science Saturday will be held on Saturday, March 1st from 10 AM - 2 PM at the Wood Road Complex. This day of science is brought to you by the PTAs of Malta Ave, Gordon Creek, Wood Road, and Milton Terrace. Activities include: poster competitions, demos and experiments, make your own terrarium, science classes, little free science library and so much more.

Malta Avenue Elementary School participated in The Great Kindness Challenge during the week of February 24th - February 28th. What a week! As a school, we devoted much of our time and energy performing as many acts of kindness as possible, creating a culture of compassion, acceptance, unity and respect. A huge thank you to the Malta Ave Student Council for spearheading this event!

We celebrated our 100th day of school on Tuesday, February 25th!

We are excited to announce that Malta Avenue students will be participating in the Pick a Reading Partner (PARP) program during the month of March. PARP is a celebration of the joy of reading together! The PARP program is designed to encourage children to read at home with their parents or caregivers for 20 minutes each day. More information to come!

On Tuesday, February 25th, we held our February schoolwide meeting. Our amazing student council members did a wonderful job planning and leading our meeting. During this month’s schoolwide meetings, we recognized our character education award winners and introduced the Great Kindness Challenge.

This month, we have two character education word of the month overall winners. Our winners are: Stassi B. and Layla A.! Thank you for exemplifying empathy and embodying the Malta Way! Stassi and Layla will be our Malta Man Sidekicks.

Our character education word for March is Perseverance - stamina - continuing to do your best even when something is difficult - staying power - persistence with a purpose - determination
