Back To School: What You Need To Know
- The first day of school is Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
- The school day begins at 7:30 a.m.
- BHS' doors will open at 7:20 a.m. daily.
- The school day ends at 2:15 p.m. everyday. BHS will no longer have early dismissal on Wednesday's, unless it is a districtwide early release, which are noted in the district's academic calendar, included below.
- BHS has implemented a Warhawk Block into its Wednesday schedule. The Warhawk Block will consist of Leader In Me lessons focused on leadership, culture and academics that equips students with the leadership and life skills needed to thrive in a dynamic world, paired with a study seminar.
- Breakfast and lunch are served daily at the high school. Meals will continue to be free for all students during the 2024-2025 school year.

Dress Code Policy
As clear communication is one of the major pillars of Bloomfield High School, it is important that scholars and families recognize the importance of non-verbal communication via student apparel. It is in the spirit of proper communication that students wear clothing that communicates the high expectations that we have for all Bloomfield High School scholars.
Accepted Dress Code:
Clean and properly fitted
Tops (with fabric in the front, back, and on the sides under the arms)
Shoes, boots, sneakers, sandals, etc. (no bare feet or slippers)
Not Permitted:
Clothing with images or language depicting drugs or alcohol (or any illegal item or activity)
Clothing that reveals undergarments (including midriffs)
Clothing with hate speech, violence, profanity or pornography
Clothing with images or language that creates a hostile or intimidating environment based on any protected class.
Accessories that could be considered dangerous or could be used as a weapon.
Sunglasses inside the school building (except for medical reasons).
Headphones/earbuds during class time (unless indicated in student plan as allowed)
Pajamas
Any hat, scarf or head covering, including those that obscure the face (except as a religious observance or for medical reasons, such as a medical face mask).
No pants hanging below the waistline, exposing buttocks/underwear or shorts worn under pants, "No Sagging"
*Outerwear worn to school must be placed in student lockers upon arrival (Reference Board of Education Policy No. 5132(b)

Save The Date: BHS Open House
BHS will be having its annual Open House on Wednesday, September 11th at 6:00 p.m. This will be an in person event and a great opportunity for you to meet your child's teachers. We look forward to having all of our parents attend. More details will come out closer to the event.
Student Schedules
Student schedules will be available on PowerSchool starting Friday, August 23rd. Schedules are a work in progress and changes may be made to your child's schedule between then and the first day of school. Your child should make sure to check their schedule the night before school starts in order to ensure there have been no changes made. If you would like to contact your child's guidance counselor regarding making a change to their schedule, they can be reached at the following:

*Please note that guidance counselors do not return to school until August 19, 2024.
Bus Routes
All bus routes and pick up times are posted on the Bloomfield Public Schools Website. You can also access your child's bus information by going to the Dattco Website directly. Bus Routes will be available the week of August 26th.

Driving To School: Here Is What You Need To Know
Any student driving to school is required to register their vehicles with the security office. Students will be issued a parking permit, after the following are completed:
- The student must fill out an application for permission to drive to school. (All essential information about the vehicle must be included.)
- The application must be signed by a parent or guardian.
- The student must provide a copy of current motor vehicle registration.
- The student must show proof that the vehicle is covered by insurance. (Proof of insurance must be in the form of a “Certificate of Insurance” which may be obtained at no cost from the insurance agent.)
Students whose applications to drive are approved will be issued numbered parking stickers which must be placed on the lower, right-hand, interior of the front windshield with the number visible from the outside.
Students who are issued these stickers must:
- Park in the student parking lot
- Proceed directly from their cars to school upon arrival
- Operate their vehicles with caution in the parking lot and while entering or leaving school grounds
- Abide by the 15 MPH speed limit on school grounds
- Lock cars when not in use (The school system is not responsible for any thefts or acts of vandalism committed on student vehicles parked on school property.)
- Do NOT park cars diagonally across several parking spaces
- Do NOT go to a parked car or to the parking lot during the school day for any reason without written permission from an administrator
- Do NOT leave school grounds during the school day, unless approved by administration. Leaving school grounds without permission during the school day is a suspendable offense.
Medical Compliance
All incoming juniors must have a current physical on file with the nurses office. Those students who are not compliant should have received notification in the mail. Please make sure to have your physical prior to the first day of school and submit it to the nurses office.
