We have officially entered the month of September!

Teachers and students have worked hard the last several weeks to establish routines and procedures to make learning successful throughout the school year. Relationships and classroom communities have been established to create a positive culture that helps students feel safe, loved, and welcomed.

Please continue reading to learn about three things that make our school a GREAT place to be!

• Panther Prides--Our Panther Prides are made up of a staff member and about 12 students from PreK-6th grades. We meet monthly to build relationships and complete a project and/or activity. Staff and students LOVE our Panther Prides time, as it gives us the opportunity to make new friends throughout the school.
• Keys of Excellence Awards--We will conclude the month by recognizing those students that have shown the Key of Integrity (or any of the other 8 Keys of Excellence). Students learn how to show the Key of Integrity all month in Morning Community, their classrooms, and during counselor time with Mrs. Mickens. Teachers will contact parents/guardians of students receiving a Key of Excellence Award later this month so that they may attend the assembly.

• AVID Elementary--We are also continuing our journey of being an AVID Elementary! AVID stands for Advancement, Via, Individual, Determination. AVID helps our students learn how to be good students. They learn to be organized by using their Organization Tool (OT), set goals using their Data Binders, and a participate in learning by using structures that promote rigor and higher-level thinking/questioning. AVID also helps us promote being college and career ready by celebrating "Higher Education Friday" by encouraging students to wear college/career gear every Friday. AVID has become who we are at TNES and we are looking forward to another great year of helping our students grow!

Ms. Bivens and Mrs. Cress LOVE to celebrate our amazing teachers and staff members with the WOOT WOOT Wagon. Normally, Ms. Bivens, Mrs. Cress, &/or PTO stock the WOOT WOOT Wagon, but they would love help! Donations in any amount of canned soda, individual bagged chips, bottled water, &/or various types of candy (or anything you think our teachers/staff would like) would be so very appreciated.
