We have been very busy with tons of spring activities this week! Our fourth graders took two amazing field trips this week. Their first trip was to Lisbon Falls to release the salmon they had been raising. The next was to participate in Spring Bay Day at Chop Point. Both are highly interesting and educational trips.

Our fifth-grade students traveled to BMS to have a tour, which was guided by former PES students who are now in the 6th grade. They returned to school excited and just a little nervous.

Last night, we welcomed our incoming kindergarten parents and Mrs. Tardif shared details of what a day in kindergarten will look like. Our kindergarten, first, and second-grade teachers each attended a meeting with their grade-level colleagues from other RSU 1 schools.

Finally, don't forget that tomorrow is CRAZY SOCK DAY!!

Help us kick off Memorial Day weekend by wearing RED, WHITE and BLUE on Friday, May 24th.

Kindergarten Registration is still happening at PES! If you are a Phippsburg resident and have a child who will be 5 years old ON or BEFORE October 15th, please call Mrs. Doran at 389-1514 to get the process started! Kindergarten screening will be Friday, June 7th. Families are encouraged to register as soon as possible. We look forward to assisting you.

Are you interested in being on a list of eligible volunteers, or chaperoning a field trip? Visit the RSU1 website to learn more and to sign up: https://www.rsu1.org/page/volunteer-information. At site preference, scroll down to select PES (select all schools you are interested in; only submit one form) and be sure to click Submit after the form is complete and signed. Please allow one week of processing time for any new volunteer applications. Individuals should only complete one application per year and include all schools that they wish to volunteer at. You must register every school year.

Join us for our next monthly PTA meeting Friday, May 31st at 8:30AM in the Teachers Rm. If you have something to contribute but can't make it to the meeting, please email phippsburgpta@gmail.com.

YMCA AFTER SCHOOL CHILDCARE

Dear Families!

Do you need After-school care (known as Y Care) for the 2024-2025 school year? Did you know the Bath Area Family YMCA offers care in the RSU1 Schools? We also offer care during half/full days and vacation weeks (at the Bath Area Family YMCA)! If you are interested or in need of care, please contact Kayla Royer at (207) 443-4112 ext. 39 or email kayla@bathymca.org for information and registration forms. Registration is now open for the 2024-2025 school year.

In order to start the licensing process at Phippsburg School, the YMCA needs 10 families attending consistently in the morning and afternoon.

If there are any parents in Phippsburg providing before/after school care or willing to babysit after school, please notify Mrs. Doran. There have been a few inquiries by parents of kindergartners, but only one provider: SunKids 443-2605.
