A Message From Mrs. Campos-Fostering an Inclusive Environment & Every School Day Counts
Celebrating Deaf Awareness Month: Fostering an Inclusive Environment
September is Deaf Awareness Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the contributions of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) community. At Oak Meadow, we are proud to be an inclusive campus that supports all students, including those who are DHH. This month serves as an important reminder of our ongoing commitment to fostering an environment where every student feels valued and understood.
We encourage families to take time this month to learn more about Deaf culture and American Sign Language (ASL), as this helps us grow as a community that embraces diversity. Together, we can ensure that all our students, regardless of hearing ability, continue to thrive in an atmosphere of acceptance and mutual respect. Let’s celebrate the uniqueness and potential of every student this month and every month!
Every School Day Counts
Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential for your child's academic success and overall school experience. When students are present and on time, they are able to fully engage in lessons, build relationships with their peers, and develop important routines. Arriving late or missing class can disrupt their learning, making it harder to keep up with classwork and understand key concepts. By ensuring your child is at school on time every day, you are helping them develop responsibility and a strong work ethic that will benefit them throughout their education
A friendly reminder that this week is parent-teacher conferences. We will be dismissing early at 1 on both Wednesday, 9/11 and Thursday, 9/12. Please plan accordingly.
We thank you for your ongoing commitment to our campus.
Warm regards,
Lisa Campos
Proud Principal

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!
We are looking for volunteers to share their careers with our Oak Meadow students. All careers welcome!
Are you, or someone you know, experienced in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art or Math (STEAM) and willing to present information and/or lead demonstrations to Oak Meadow Elementary students? OR, would you be interested in facilitating a pre-planned (we would provide everything needed) STEAM activity for students?
Not in a STEAM career? We would also love to have you volunteer! This event is for students to learn about all career fields. If you willing to volunteer please fill out this google form or contact Mrs. Koudelka directly at mkoude@neisd.net
Our STEAMfest this year will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
Greetings from the Clinic!
State-required screenings for Hearing, Vision, and Acanthosis Nigricans (a potential indicator about diabetes) are returning to Oak Meadow soon! Students included are Pre K, Kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade, and 5th grade, and any students new to the district. We hope to complete most of these the week of September 30th. Please encourage your student to bring any glasses/contacts if they use them. If you would like to opt-out, please submit it in writing.
Thanks!
Luke, RN
