MHS STUDENT & FAMILY NEWSLETTER
Week of September 23 - September 28, 2024
RSU 57 & Massabesic High School
"Preparing students for success in an ever-changing world."
Hello Mustang Nation,
HOMECOMING WEEK AT MHS!!! We have a week filled with great activities, school spirit, and homecoming athletic events. We hope you will find something this week that you can engage in and show your school spirit and school pride. Our week concludes on Saturday with our annual Homecoming Dance - a reminder that students must be in good standing to attend the dance and in attendance at school on Friday to be eligible to attend on Saturday.
OUR STUDENTS ARE GREAT! We continue to see impressive attendance and conduct from our student population. I am proud of the effort that students are putting forth to obey school rules, arrive on time, and focus on their academics. In the early going of the school year we are also seeing impressive performance in the classroom. There is always room for improvement and we will continue to encourage our students to work hard toward goals of achievement, but it is also important to provide this praise and acknowledgement of the hard work completed thus far. As the principal I am proud of Massabesic students and take every opportunity I can to speak to my colleagues around the county and state of the incredible potential and abilities of Mustang Nation.
As a reminder, our upcoming week will follow the GREEN & WHITE day schedule below:
Monday 9/23 - GREEN
Tuesday 9/24 - WHITE
Wednesday 9/25- GREEN (ERD Schedule linked below)
Thursday 9/26 - WHITE
Friday 9/27 - GREEN
Take care,
-Mr. Thurlow
HOMECOMING SPIRIT WEEK!
Spirit week is next week 9/23-9/27 and Student Council has some wonderful things planned for you! The theme of homecoming spirit week is "Class vs. Class" Participate so your class can be victorious and have bragging rights for the year. There will be a point system for most participation on dress-up days, winning games, and donating money to chains during your lunch period. A pep rally will be held Friday during 4th block. Come watch the return of the Powder Puff football game, the tug-of-war, MASCAR racing, and other games.
This year we're introducing mini-games during Mustang Time. We are currently looking for volunteers from each class (and staff volunteers) for the following days and games.
Monday 9/23 Hallway egg race. Two volunteers from each class, one to wear the blindfold and hold the egg, the other to guide them around objects to the finish line.
Tuesday 9/24 Pie eating contest. One volunteer per class will have to eat a whole fruit pie. Whoever eats the whole pie first (or the most in a given time period) wins.
If you're interested in participating, please email Dennis Nadeau. First come first serve.
Chains will be for sale during lunch time. Each chain link will be sold for 50 cents. Donations go to a good cause.

Glue can used to fasten materials together, but are not to be used on any school surfaces. Classes found using any other type adhesives on school surfaces will be disqualified from hallway competition and billed for maintenance and clean up of those impacted areas.
Friday, September 27 during Block 4 we will host a pep rally in the gymnasium. Students will report to Block 4 for attendance the first 15 minutes of Block 4. Students will be announced to move to the gymnasium. Quiet spaces (library & cafeteria) will be provided for students who need this type of environment.

Calling All Businesses, Industries, & Community Partners!
Massabesic High School is hosting an Annual Career Fair on October 23, 2024, from 7:30-11:30 am in the school’s gymnasium.
Our goal is to inspire the youth in our community to be Career and College ready. It is important for students to explore different career fields in a variety of interest areas or even explore options they have not yet considered. The Annual Career Fair enables students to connect with local companies and helps spread the word about your company and job openings.
We cordially invite you to be a part of this great event. If you are able to join us, you will be responsible for running a booth and discussing with students your workday and the skills and education needed to be successful in your particular career field. If you have any flyers or job postings available, this would be a great opportunity to bring them.
If you are interested in representing your business, please complete the form linked here.
Please feel free to email Marianne Stephenson if you have any questions mariannestephenson@rsu57.org.
