🐾💙Citadel Heart of Learning Award- accepting nominations until January 15 💙🐾
Amazing things happen at Fugett every day thanks to our world class teachers. Please join me in recognizing their efforts by nominating a teacher for the Citadel Heart of Learning Award.
The Citadel Heart of Learning Award program honors exceptional teachers throughout the Greater Philadelphia area. I am certain that we have a number of educators worthy of this prestigious award, walking the halls of Fugett. As a matter of fact, our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Jen Gallagher won this award just a few years ago, recognizing her incredible impact on students.
Please consider showing your appreciation to our Fugett teachers by sharing your student’s success story through a nomination. Simply being nominated and recognized can be such a memorable experience for educators. Thank you for your consideration!
Energy Drinks and Adolescence
As part of our commitment to supporting the health and well-being of our students, we want to raise awareness about the potential risks associated with the consumption of energy drinks, especially among young people.
We are finding that many of our middle schoolers are coming to school with cans of energy drinks and keeping them in their lockers to drink throughout the day. While these beverages are often marketed as a quick way to boost energy and alertness, they typically contain high levels of caffeine and sugar, as well as other stimulants that may pose risks to children and adolescents.
Potential side effects include:
- Increased heart rate and blood pressure
- Sleep disturbances and difficulty focusing
- Risk of dependency on caffeine
- Anxiety, irritability, and mood swings
Additionally, consuming energy drinks before or during school can negatively impact students' ability to concentrate, participate, and perform academically.
We encourage you to talk with your child about these risks and consider healthier alternatives, such as water, milk, or 100% fruit juices, to support their energy and hydration needs. Thank you for your continued support in promoting a safe and healthy environment for all students.
Safety Reminder - dress code in effect even when its cold! 🥶
For the safety and security of all students and staff, we would like to remind everyone of our policy regarding outerwear inside the school building.
Students are not permitted to wear coats or have their hoods up during school hours - homeroom bell to dismissal. This practice helps us ensure a safe and respectful learning environment, as it allows staff to easily identify individuals within the building.
We kindly ask for your support in reinforcing this policy with your child. If your child requires additional layers for warmth, we recommend sweaters, sweatshirts, long sleeve shirts, pants, or other appropriate indoor clothing.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in keeping our school community safe.
