Huntley Happenings January 2nd
Family Newsletter
Hello Huntley families,
Happy New Year everyone! We hope you had time for fun and relaxation over the break. The kids came in a little tired, but mostly excited to be back in school and able to see their friends. The lunchroom was LOUD as students shared their winter break adventures with one another!
The beginning of the year is a great time to set goals for the year ahead. Many students will be doing this in their classrooms over the next few days. Please consider having a conversation at home with your child about a goal they can achieve for the 2nd half of the school year.
We wanted to make you aware that iReady testing is happening this month. All students will take a reading and math test on the computer with their class. Parents, you'll receive your child's score at the end of the month with progress reports. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns.
Have a great weekend!

Intent to Attend Survey for Sandy Slope
Important Reminder: Intent to Attend Surveys for Sandy Slope Elementary
If you responded to the Intent to Attend survey sent on December 2, and do not wish to change your answer, you do not need to complete an updated survey.
Please complete one survey for each student. This survey can be found in the parent portal, under Message Center. This survey will close on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Thank you for your response!
Thank you to everyone who has already completed the Intent to Attend survey. We understand that your decision regarding Sandy Slope Elementary may depend on several important factors, such as:
Charter school application results, which will be available starting March 7, 2025.
Transportation questions or concerns that are still being resolved.
Peer and friend decisions about where they’ll attend.
Staffing information. (Please note: Staffing decisions are shared with families in August, before the school’s Meet and Greet event.)
We recognize these considerations are significant. However, it’s vital that families complete the Intent to Attend survey as soon as possible. Your response directly impacts our planning for staffing, resources, and programming—critical elements to creating the best experience for Sandy Slope students.
If we do not receive a response, we will follow up individually to ensure all families are accounted for. Thank you for your cooperation.
