Student Spotlight: Brooklyn G.
Brooklyn G. from Hancock County Middle/High School took Spanish 1 this semester. Her teacher, Mr. Markl, was impressed by Brooklyn's commitment to learning Spanish. He said: "Brooklyn is far and away the most involved student in the course. Furthermore, she is a truly sweet and kind soul. It is a pleasure to be her instructor."
We asked Brooklyn to share her thoughts on her learning experience with Niswonger Online. She said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed the flexibility that comes with online classes. I feel that this class has given me just as good as an education-if not better than an in person class. I have been able to review lessons as many times as needed to grasp the assignment. I feel that this has prepared me for online classes such as dual enrollment. I will be able to handle future online classes thanks to this experience."
Brooklyn, we are so proud of your success this semester! We know that you will be well prepared for future online classes because of the hard work you put in to learning how to navigate an online class, communicate with an online instructor, and manage your time well. Bravo!
Teacher Spotlight: Ms. Michelle Norman
Ms. Norman has been teaching American Sign Language with Niswonger Online for several years. In addition to supporting her students through the regular ASL coursework, Ms. Norman likes to share additional insights with students through the course announcements such as signs related to upcoming holidays, TV shows or movies that show aspects of deaf culture, and more. She also shares lots of tips to help students learn how to study ASL. We love Ms. Norman's passion for sharing American Sign Language and the experiences of Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals with our students!
Course Spotlight: Introduction to Teaching as a Profession
Are you a student interested in becoming a teacher, counselor, speech language pathologist, or librarian? Introduction to Teaching as a Profession will allow you to learn about the history of education in the United States, explore various careers in education and the pathways to obtaining the required education and preparation, and more. Students will create projects to be added to a portfolio. If students choose to continue the Teaching as a Profession program of study, additional items will be added to this portfolio in Teaching as a Profession 1 and Teaching as a Profession 2.
