An Update from Superintendent Brad Willson
We’re excited to share a draft of our new partnership plan that reflects the voices and ideas of many teachers, staff, students, and administrators who came together with one goal in mind: to support student success through collaboration, transparency, and accountability.
This plan is built on the belief that student success depends on all of us—educators, parents, students, and school leaders—working together with a shared sense of purpose.
Now, we’re asking for your help. We want your feedback on this commitment to each other to help shape the final version and ensure it reflects what our families and staff need from each other.
Please take a few moments to review the draft and share your thoughts by the end of the school year. Together, we can create a stronger, more supportive environment.

Severe Weather Awareness
Severe weather season is upon us and we would like to share with you our severe weather procedures.
When the National Weather Service issues a tornado warning for Shawnee County during school hours, students in all USD 345 buildings will take cover. Administrators have identified safe places for sheltering in all school facilities and conduct severe weather drills during the school year so students know what to expect. No students or staff members will be allowed to leave the shelter area until the warning has expired. School staff members will not be answering the office telephones since they are all required to report to the shelter areas. When necessary, we will keep children at school beyond regular hours if threatening weather approaches.
We realize dangerous weather has the potential to pop up during bus routes. Our bus drivers’ number one priority is to safely deliver each of our students to their proper destination. Bus drivers have been trained to assess and report potential weather conditions and remain in contact with the transportation department throughout their routes. Drivers have protocols in place to quickly, accurately, and efficiently react to severe weather conditions.
When possible, you will receive an email through SchoolMessenger letting you know the students are taking cover. You will receive a second email when the warning has expired and students and school staff are returning to classrooms. The safety of our students is our number one priority and we will keep you notified of procedures, pick-up instructions (if necessary) and other information pertaining to all emergencies.
If you’re not signed up for email through our notification system, SchoolMessenger, please contact your school office to update your contact information.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have questions or concerns.
SEAF Golf Tournament Registration
The Seaman Education Advantage Foundation (SEAF) was established in 2002 with the specific goal of enhancing the educational opportunities for the students of the Seaman School District. Thousands of dollars in student scholarships and teacher mini-grants have been awarded by SEAF. This is made possible by the valued support of businesses and individuals, through donations, sponsorships, and/or participation in SEAF’s annual fundraisers.

Free Summer Meal Info
Seaman Food Service is planning to provide Free Summer Meals for the Walk-In Public at Logan again this year. Below is information on this service.
See Something, Say Something
Our See Something, Say Something reporting tool is anonymous. This form allows you and others to submit safety concerns to district officials. This reporting tool is continuously monitored by district staff. If you would like to receive follow-up correspondence you may leave your contact information. Reporting observed threats, behaviors, actions, and harassment help maintain a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff.
After you provide as much information as you have about a safety or security concern, here are the next steps the district follows:
1. A district official reviews your information and replies to your tip if contact info is provided.
2. Your tip is forwarded to the proper administration to begin investigation.
3. You are contacted (if contact info is provided) to provide any follow-up info, if needed.
4. Administration follows through with the investigation and any action steps necessary.
Crime Stoppers is another reporting tool available to Shawnee County residents. Crime Stoppers encourages members of the community to assist local law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime by overcoming fear and apathy. They assist local law enforcement agencies by gathering information through the use of online and mobile tools and encourage community members to volunteer vital information that could lead to the battle against crime.
Call the Anonymous Tip Line at (785) 234-0007 or submit information through their Mobile Application. Tips that lead to a felony arrest are eligible for a cash reward.

Seaman Parents as Teachers
Parents as Teachers is a FREE program offered to anyone in the Seaman School District. It is a voluntary program designed for all families with children ages prenatal to Kindergarten entry. Parents as Teachers (PAT) is based on two important concepts: 1) Parents are their child's first and most influential teachers and 2) experiences in the first years of a child's life are key to future success in school and life.
Parents as Teachers offers personal visits, group connections, screenings and a resource network. Call Mathes Early Learning Center at 785-286-7103 and leave a message for Angie or Tina. Also check out our Facebook Page, Seaman Parents as Teachers USD 345.
Visit Seaman Parents as Teachers online for more information.
