Bastrop ISD News
Elizabeth Eagan named Region 13 Elementary Teacher of the Year
Bastrop ISD is proud to announce that Elizabeth Eagan, our dedicated Special Education teacher for students with visual impairments, has been named the Region 13 Elementary Teacher of the Year.
Bastrop ISD is pleased to announce that all schools will offer free breakfast and free lunch to all students under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for the 2024-2025 school year. All Bastrop ISD schools qualify to operate the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) to ensure students receive nutritious meals at no cost to families.
Parents will not need to complete the comprehensive free lunch application this year. Instead, you will fill out a simple socioeconomic form during online registration. Providing accurate socioeconomic status benefits your child and the district. BISD receives critical federal, state and grant funding based on the completion of the socioeconomic forms.
Although initial meals are free, students may choose to purchase additional food. Prices and payment options can be found here.

Attendance Matters
As we gear up for another great school year, we wanted to highlight how important student attendance is for academic and social-emotional growth in each and every student in Bastrop ISD. Parents can play a significant role in improving their child's school attendance. Here are five tips to help boost and maintain good attendance:
Establish a Routine: Create a consistent daily schedule that includes regular bedtimes and wake-up times. A well-rested child is more likely to attend school regularly and be attentive during class.
Prepare for the Day: Get school clothes and supplies ready the night before to make mornings less hectic. This can help reduce stress and ensure that the child is prepared and motivated to attend school.
Communicate with the School: Stay in touch with teachers and school officials. If there are issues affecting your child's attendance, such as health problems or family issues, communicate with the school to find solutions and support.
Promote the Importance of School: Help your child understand the value of education and how regular attendance contributes to their future success. Share positive stories about school and learning to build a positive attitude. Draw comparisons between other areas of life, such as sporting events and parents’ work schedules, to understand that consistent punctuality and attendance are lifelong skills that all successful individuals must develop.
Encourage Participation: Get involved in your child’s education by attending school events, helping with homework, and showing interest in their school activities. When children feel supported and valued in what they do at school, they are more likely to attend regularly.
By implementing these strategies, parents can help foster a positive attitude towards school and improve their child's attendance.
Returning Students: Returning Student Verification is required for all students that are currently enrolled in Bastrop ISD and returning for the 2024-25 school year.
New Students: Parents must complete New Student Enrollment for any child that is new to Bastrop ISD or if they have not been enrolled in the previous six months.
