The beginning of a new school year is always filled with a mix of excitement, anticipation, and a touch of nervousness. Here at Pepin Elementary, we are committed to creating an environment where students feel welcomed, parents feel involved, and the entire school community collaborates towards a common goal: the success and well-being of our students.

September is a month of learning new routines, reacquainting ourselves with friends, and adjusting to a new grade level and teacher. It can be a lot to take in.

Here are some tips to help your child ease into the school year:

• Establish a consistent bedtime routine. Adequate sleep is crucial for being ready to learn each day.

• Clearly communicate your expectations for how and when homework will be completed.

• Check in with your child daily to see how they are feeling about school and encourage them to share their experiences and feelings.

• Set boundaries about screen time and balance that with other activities during the school week.

Monthly Character Theme
This month, we are focusing on R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Respect means recognizing the good in people and things and treating them with care. It involves appreciating others, whether they are similar to or different from you. Treating others with care can mean listening quietly when they speak, responding with kindness, helping out when you see a need, or standing up for others.

Our Elementary Handbook, school calendar, and lunch menus are available on the school website if you need to reference them for any questions.

Wait to purchase photos, and your student can have their picture taken on Retake Day: Tuesday, October 15.

At Pepin Elementary, we recognize the importance of fostering positive relationships. To help create a welcoming and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, we have established Eagles Nests! Each month, our students from 4K to sixth grade, along with staff, will come together in the small gym for a brief assembly focused on our character trait of the month. Following this, we will separate into our diverse Eagles Nests groups to further explore how we can enhance Pepin Elementary and our community by demonstrating three core principles: Be Kind, Be Strong, and Be Well.
