Adding Extra Credit Assignments
For Teacher Gradebook
Maintain Teacher Gradebook Category Entry Point
Under the Teacher Menu, click on Maintain Teacher Gradebook Category. Use the Teacher Gradebook Assignment Tab to configure the extra credit assignments that will be used in a selected course/section.
Adding an Extra Credit Assignment
In the Teacher Gradebook Assignment, create the extra credit assignment as normal and change the following information:
- Maximum Value * - change this to the amount of points the student can receive for this assignment (example below uses 10 points)
- Assignment for Extra Credit Only? * - change this to Y
Entering Grades for the Extra Credit Assignment
Select the Enter Classroom Grading entry point. On the Course Section List page, highlight a course section and click the Select button to open the Frontline SIS Gradebook.
Search for the Extra Credit Assignment column and enter the extra credit points on the appropriate student line.
If you enter a value more than your set Maximum Value, you will receive and error.
Click save once you are done entering grades.
How the Extra Credit Assignment is Calculated
In the example below, the extra credit assignment is defined with:
- 3 assignments
- 1 extra credit assignment
- Maximum Value * - 10
- Assignment for Extra Credit Only? * - Y
⚠ Average grade is calculated as sum of ALL assignments divided by the number of regular assignments.
Assignment Grades Without Extra Credit:
- Assignment #1 Grade: 90
- Assignment #2 Grade: 100
- Assignment #3 Grade: 100
Average is 290/3 = 96.67
Assignment Grades With Extra Credit:
- Assignment #1 Grade: 90
- Assignment #2 Grade: 100
- Assignment #3 Grade: 100
- Extra Credit Assignment Grade: 10
Average is 300/3 = 100
