Casimir Weekly Cougar Updates

Dear Families,

With the current heat wave and high temperatures, we want to remind everyone of the importance of staying cool and hydrated. Please remind your children to dress in lightweight, breathable clothing suitable for the hot weather and to drink plenty of water throughout the day.

At school, we have several hydration stations where students can refill their water bottles as often as needed, so please encourage them to bring a reusable bottle to stay hydrated.

We appreciate your support in helping everyone stay safe and comfortable during this time!

We are pleased to anounce that Casimir Middle School was recognized by California PBIS for successful PBIS implementation at the SILVER level. Our school is a recipient within the California PBIS Recognition System, reflecting excellence in the implementation of the core features of PBIS. Thank you to everyone who helps make PBIS at Casimir successful!

Save the date... looking forward to seeing our wonderful families at Casimir's Back To School Night on Tuesday, 9/24 from 6:00 - 7:00pm.

Girl's soccer tryouts will be next Tuesday, 9/10, and Thursday, 9/12, after school from 3:30 to 4:30pm. Any student interested in trying out for the team will be required to submit the completed athletic packet to the front office by Tuesday morning on the day of tryouts.

Boys tryouts will be announced soon!

Starting this week, if you receive 3 or more tardies (in any period) in a week you will be assigned a reflection detention the following Thursday after school from 3:20 to 3:50.

Each late start Tuesday, there is a study hall at the lunch benches from 8:20 - 9:05am. The main gate will open at 8:20 for students who would like to attend. If you attend study hall please bring class assignments or your independent reading book to work on while you are there. Please do not plan to complete work online during study hall since there are no Chromebooks available during this time and phones need to be put away and out of sight per the Cell Phone policy at Casimir. This is a quiet study time to get work done. For safety reasons, once students arrive at the study hall, they will need to stay at the benches until the school gates open at 9:05. Students may then go to their locker. Thank you for following the Cougar Code during study hall!

This week students attended assemblies about the Casimir behavior policies in their PE classes. Each student should already have had a signed Points Policy sheet turned in. If you did not fill this out at registration, please click on the buttons below for the Points Policy sheet for the correct grade and turn in the signed copy to the office.

We are collecting reams of paper to benefit our students! Donate a ream or a box today. We appreciate your generosity. It will go a long way! The homeroom with the most reams of paper will win a pizza party! The student with the most reams of paper will win a Brand New pair of shoes up to $150! Please write the student and homeroom teacher's name on the ream and drop it off at the front office.

Casimir families, come join your student for lunch at our first Dine N Dash of the school year on Friday, 9/27. On the last Friday of each month, we welcome families to bring lunch and eat together during Casimir lunchtime! Families, please be sure to register with the office prior to Dine N Dash to expedite the gate entry process.

Families, if you are interested in student accident and sickness insurance, click the button below for more information.

You can now use your student ID to purchase snacks from the red cart if you have funds available on your Titian Lunch account. You can still use cash as well, but you will not get change back, instead if you have change it will go onto your Titian account.

Signups for CJSF and Math Club are beginning next week.

Phones must be put away until you leave the campus. This includes when exiting the back gate. Phones should not be out while walking across the back grass.

Quick Guide to Reporting Student Absences

If/When your student is absent please notify us via email by sending an absence note with the following information to cook.lindsay@tusd.org

Absence Notes should include:

1. Date

2. Name of your Child

3. Date of absence

4. Reason for absence (if out due to illness please specify what symptoms your child is having)

5. Parent/Guardian Name & Relationship (absence notes can only be accepted from Primary Guardians listed in PowerSchool)

6. Phone Number where you can be reached

The Wellness Center in Room 24 is a space available for students to relax, play games, socialize, and talk to the counselor. It is open everyday at lunch time.
