Tatum Steen, a rising sophomore at St. Johnsbury Academy (SJA), is a shining example of how a strong foundation can lead to a bright future. A former student of Newark Street School, Tatum carries the values and experiences of his early education with him as he navigates the challenges and triumphs of high school.

At SJA, Tatum's academic interests are diverse. While he enjoyed math and science last semester, he's currently immersed in the world of art, eager to explore his creativity. Beyond the classroom, Tatum is actively involved in student government, serving as a class council member and a representative for the Class of 2027.

A multi-sport athlete, Tatum excels on the soccer field and the track. He recently achieved a significant milestone by making the Varsity soccer team at SJA.

Reflecting on his time at Newark Street School, Tatum fondly remembers the unique learning opportunities afforded by the small-school environment. "Experiences like a free trip to Quebec City is a life-long memory that I have gained from Newark Street School," he shares.

The close-knit community at Newark Street School played a crucial role in shaping Tatum's social and academic development. "Learning Blendr or learning to enjoy the company of my classmates because of the close space and not a large student population, have set me on my current path and introduced me to my current passions," he explains.
