Baseball to Host Hoover in First Round of Playoffs

Hewitt-Trussville Baseball will host Hoover this weekend in the first round of the 7A Baseball playoffs. The Huskies went 24-3-1 in the regular season including a 4-2 record in 7A Area 6. Hoover went 28-14 overall this season including a 3-3 record in 7A Area 5. The Bucs finished 2nd in their Area.
The teams will play a best two-out-of three series. Games one and two will be played on Friday. Game 3 (if necessary) will be played on Saturday.

Boys Soccer Qualifies for Playoffs
Hewitt-Trussville Boys Soccer is playoff bound! The Huskies defeated Spain Park 4-0 on Monday night to book a trip to the playoffs for the first time since 2014. This will be the first time HT has competed in the 7A playoffs.
The Huskies struck first in the 11th minute on Monday. Cason Cook lobbed a corner kick in front of the goal and Cameron Bonner found the back of the net with a header. Gavin Snyder and the HT defense were excellent for the rest of the half, and the Huskies took a 1-0 lead into the locker room.
HT broke the game open in the second half with three goals in a five minute span. First, Cason Cook scored to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead in the 57th minute. Hewitt-Trussville was fouled in the box two minutes later. Cook took the penalty kick and netted his second goal of the night. In the 62nd minute, Books Bilodeau broke free and scored the final goal of the night.
The Huskies will open the 7A playoffs next Tuesday at Oak Mountain. The game will begin at 5pm.
Softball Beats Spain Park to Win Regular Season Area Title

The 7A Area 6 Softball tournament will be played in Trussville! The Huskies defeated Spain Park 2-1 on Wednesday night to win the regular season title. Coach Taylor Burt's team finished regular season Area play with a 5-1 record. The Huskies are now 37-4-1 overall on the season.
Sarah Hindman pitched a complete game against the Jaguars giving up just one run on seven hits. The game was scoreless entering the 6th inning. Sara Phillips led off the inning with a line drive homerun to left field to give HT a 1-0 lead. Ana Henson followed with a single and advanced to 2nd on a sacrifice bunt. Later in the inning, Kenleigh Cahalan doubled to score another run. The Jaguars cut the lead to 2-1 and loaded the bases in the bottom of the 7th. Hindman got the Spain Park batter to pop out to catch Riley Tyree to end the game.

HT Boys, HT Girls Take 1st Place at Hewitt-Trussville Invitational
In the final tuneup before the AHSAA Sectional meet, the HT Boys and HT Girls Outdoor Track & Field teams took first place honors at the Hewitt-Trussville Invitational on Friday. The HT Boys finished in 1st place out of 20 teams. The HT Girls finished in first place out of 22 teams.

The Huskies will travel to Mountain Brook this week for the 7A Section 3 Meet. Those that qualify will then travel to Gulf Shores for the 7A State Meet May 5-May 7.

Boys Golf Recap from Sectionals
HT Boys Golf competed in the AHSAA 7A Section 3 Tournament on Monday. The Huskies finished in 4th place as a team. Only the top two teams advanced to the AHSAA Sub-State Tournament.
A total of 47 golfers competed in the tournament. HT's Gavin Isbell shot a 71 which was the low round of the day and earned him medalist honors. Isbell will travel to sub-state next week and compete as an individual.
HTHS and HTMS Boys Basketball Tryout Information
Tryout dates have been set for the 2022-2023 HTHS and HTMS Boys Basketball teams.
HTHS tryouts are open to rising 9th-12th grade TCS students. Tryouts will be held in the HTHS Gym May 23 and May 25. Rising Freshmen will be from 4:00pm-5:45pm. Bowling Tryout Information
Hewitt-Trussville Bowling is set to host tryouts for the 2022-2023 season. Tryouts will be held May 10-12 from 3:45pm-5:15pm at Sparetime in Trussville. Rising 7th grade-12th grade TCS are eligible to tryout. Hewitt-Trussville will field a middle school team and high school team next season.

- We will have a parent meeting on May 10th at 6:00 in the Middle School Auditorium. This meeting will mainly be for parents/athletes who have never ran cross country. If you have, there won’t be any new info given that you all won’t receive through an email. You are welcome to come, but just know that it isn’t mandatory and you can just email me with any questions you may have.
- Our Team Shop is already open for cross country season! This store will be used to buy your athlete’s uniform for the season as well as any other items he/she may want or need. Parents are more than welcome to buy Husky gear for yourself too! The link to order XC gear can be found here. https://bsnteamsports.com/shop/HTxc22 Remember, after the deadline no more orders can be placed! The shop will close on May 16th.
- We will have XC evaluations on May 19th and 20th. This will be to mainly familiarize our athletes with proper warm up drills, how to do workouts on their own, and how to cool down. We will do a 1 mile time trial on the 20th. Those evaluation days will end at approximately 4:30.
- If you know of someone interested in running cross country, please pass this information on to them so they are aware of the parent meeting and other important info.

School athletic physicals will take place on May 13, 2022 at Hewitt-Trussville Stadium. Students wishing to participate in athletics that will be in grades 7-12 for the 2022-2023 school year should attend.
